P.S y’all need an American Flag up.
By the time we finally made it up, I noticed they had six seats free along the window. We were waiting, and the couple ahead of us had reservations for the same time, were told to wait as our table wasn’t ready yet but it would just be a couple of minutes. This was twenty minutes after our reservation time. We sat directly behind the podium, they eventually had more people come address others in the newly formed line. It turns out these people had reservations for 8 PM. They began seating couples with 8 pm reservations and completely skipped us. There was open tables, but no one seemed to be communicating that two couples waiting directly in front of them were waiting for a table and in retrospect I’m thankful because according to other reviews the experience did not improve upon being seated.
Not a single person made an effort to check in, communicate, grab us a refreshment. We just were no longer acknowledged after being told to wait. I saw several servers collected together but did not see a single food plate go out. We left after waiting about 45 minutes for a reservation. A little communication goes a long way. It seemed as if everyone was doing all jobs and that’s not a great way to run a restaurant as communication didn’t happen between servers, the manager, or the customers and the team looked exhausted. We opted not to stay because the entire time we waited we didn’t see a single food plate go out, and heard the bartender apologize over and over again about drink times. One couple was seated for 30 minutes before they got water.
This is a small space. It appeared that they had 4-5 people serving/hostessing/bussing (because everyone did every job) not including the person that appeared to be the manager. Wait times like this should not have happened, and there was time to communicate with customers. They just opted not to and I hope through this they’ve learned a little communication goes a long way. People are kind and typically understanding if you let them know what’s going on. (I suspect the kitchen was understaffed but I’m not sure because I didn’t see a single food plate deliver to patrons there) Just tell people what’s happening and communicate with your team.
We did end up going to North Jetty Brewing and I would urge you to go there and relax with a pint of beer, prompt communicator service, and great sandwiches.
My advice: Go for happy hour while you enjoy the view, then go somewhere else for dinner.
The crab pizza was very tasty (fennel heavy) and different, I loved it! $$
The burger was quality and tasty.
The salmon and brussel sprouts were too strong on the oil/smoke flavor for our taste. The salmon was good size piece and wild caught. We requested to have the salmon cooked further, and they were cool about it. The fried potatoes were delicious. $$
Overall, we enjoyed our beautiful dishes, and they did their best to work with our GF and dairy free requests.
The atmosphere was absolutely beautiful, well thought out, and pleasant.
I’d recommend a reservation for a beach seat especially.
The service was excellent.
Shout out to Cescily for her customer service skills and warmth. Made our night.
All in all, we are grateful for this place and we will visit again!
Upon entering the restaurant, we were met with a long line, where you would normally expect a hostess. Unfortunately, there was no hostess present, and we waited roughly 30 minutes before being able to flag down a staff member. After another 10 minutes, we were finally seated.
Once seated, we received water promptly, but no server approached our table for about 15 minutes. After placing our drink order, we waited an additional 30-40 minutes before the drinks arrived. Given the delays, we decided to place our full food order at that time.
The most concerning part of the experience was the wait for the food, approximately 2 hours. While I will say that the food itself was good, it did not make up for the excessive delays and lack of communication
During the wait, we observed staff members casually socializing with little apparent sense of urgency, which added to the frustration. After finishing our meal, dirty plates remained on the table for about 30minutes. We then waited another 30 minutes before finally receiving the check.
To be clear, our starters did not arrive for nearly two hours. Several food items we ordered were forgotten, and we had to repeatedly ask for plates. When the food finally came out, it was cold. There was no communication regarding wait times at any point during the service. Meanwhile, the restaurant continued accepting takeout orders and seating new customers, even though many tables had not yet received drinks. Dirty plates were left on nearby tables for over 30 minutes while guests were still seated. At one point, tables were actually cheering when their food finally arrived, which speaks to how long everyone had been waiting.
Overall, this was a very disappointing and unenjoyable experience. Good food alone is not enough to outweigh such significant service issues.
Food was great and the drinks were good too. I had the absinthe which was served the traditional way and took some time to be prepared (they let the water drop over a sugar cube in a glass with an ounce of absinthe to dilute it). The ambiance was amazing and made it a memorable experience, definitely beating my expectations.
