This little shack produces some very tasty sandwiches. We got a cheese steak and a veggie sandwich both the half size. Each one was large enough that we had it for lunch and dinner. The cheese steak is not a normally cheese steak but what they do with this sandwich was a tasty mess of food. The veggie was a salad in bread.

Still one of the best Cheesesteak sandwiches around — hearty, cheesy, and flavorful in that unmistakable Pickle Barrel style. Been here most of my life and always glad to support a tasty business that’s become a Bozeman institution. While the space can get busy and seating is limited (it’s mostly takeout with some outdoor tables), the quality of the food keeps the line justified and the locals loyal.

Stopped by here after landing at Bozeman Airport and the food was amazing! The pickles especially were great tasting. Other than the food the atmosphere of the place was a little random but still fine! The steak sandwich’s are amazing and definitely order a side of pickles.

We were entering Yellowstone National Park the next day and weren’t sure what food options or wait times to expect, especially during the busy summer season. So we decided to pack some lunch from Pickle Barrel—and it turned out to be a fantastic choice! The sandwiches are huge, easily enough to feed two people, and packed with fresh ingredients and flavor. We ordered a few different kinds, and each one was delicious and satisfying.
What truly made the experience special was the team of school kids running the place. They were incredibly polite, efficient, and enthusiastic. I finally cant stand it anymore. after years of buying food from this establishment since 1990 im done. not only has the price of these sandwiches risen past the point that makes sense; but im tired of being incorrectly and inconsistently charged for the same sandwich I get everything time I go there. literally every time I go it changes, and it ain’t ever cheaper mind ya! in the past 2 years ive started using my military discount and the pay cash discount. well guess what they still charge ya the same price regardless if not higher. so do yourself a favor and patronize literally any buissness other than the pickle barrel. Also the quality of your food is inconsistent. Thats been a decades long problem.

Sorry for not taking picture of delicious sandwich before it was devoured. Love discovery local businesses during our road trip. Typed in sandwich and Pickle Barrel popped up. This place did not disappoint. We shared whole cheesesteak. The sauce is marriage of marinara and Italian beef gravy. We got it lightly sauced.
Order at counter and not too long get presented with deliciousness.
They have a separate building to sit and eat but we needed to get back on road.
Pickle Barrel is thus far my only 5 star place on our road trip.

We are visiting Bozeman and went to Pickle Barrel on a recommendation off YouTube. We weren’t disappointed. Our half sized sandwiches were delicious, chock full of filling, and good value. Hubby had the Blue Streak and I had Tuna. They weighed heaps in the bag, no doubt because they had so much filling on them. We would definitely recommend this place.

Staff and atmosphere is great but the sandwiches taste like nothing. Tried it a few times because people said it was good but after getting a few different items, none of the sandwiches really taste particularly good…or bad…they just don’t really taste like anything.
