I walked in and nobody greeted me but everyone did stare awkwardly. There were no signs to seat yourself, but I did anyway.
It didn’t take long for the waitress to come take my order. She walked up to me and just stood there without speaking. So I gave her my order.
I ordered grilled chicken and fries.
The fries were hot and very good. The chicken did not taste or even look real. Maybe it was real but if so it had been frozen for awhile. It was rubbery and could hardly cut it. It was not good at all. I was definitely disappointed. I hoped it would be better.
I waited for a ticket but never got one. I saw another person walk behind me, and then I saw there was a register towards the back.
Only given 2 stars and that’s for the wait time alone. I won’t be back anytime soon.
A place where locals meet, even from out of towner’s may meet in passing. Great atmosphere, and the waitresses were very kind. You don’t see much of that southern hospitality much anymore, but you will be glad you stopped here. It’s that southern comfort and charm that stands absolutely above the rest.
If you read the reviews on Google Maps a couple people mention getting kinda weird looks if you’re not a regular/local, which definitely happened to us lol. We sat ourselves after no one was forthcoming with directions. This ultimately seemed like the right choice.
Once we sat, a waitress appeared with menus and got our drink orders. It’s a tiny little place but cute in a homey way. Definitely feels like you’re among the locals!
Our waitress was pleasant. Not super attentive – once our food was dropped off she was gone, no refills, no checking in on if everything was okay, but we didn’t really need her for either of those things so it was fine.
One of the best things about this place is the prices are still VERY fair and competitive! Three of us ate lunch (our own entrees, not splitting) for less than $30. Yay!
My dad had a cheeseburger, mom had a patty melt, and I had the chicken fingers — all with fries. My parents ordered better than I did. The burger/melt were smaller but a healthy size for lunch, with melty cheese and juicy beef. The fries were probably frozen and then fried (not crispy enough) but they were salted nicely and not too greasy.
The chicken tenders were definitely frozen and then fried — no way hand breaded chicken tenders are this uniform in breading, haha. They were actually still decent though — very large and fairly crispy with slightly dry but still tasty white meat inside.
Overall, not in an enormous hurry to return here, but it was a decent lunch and it gives the vibes of a place that does a great breakfast. Give them a go if you’re in the neighborhood.
