Burritos. Today we are at Picante in San Rafael, California. One of my favorite go-tos on this side of the bridge to grab a burrito.

Muy Authentico. Worth the drive to this hidden gem! Be sure to load up on the pickled jalapenos and carrots! The green sauce is one of the top salsas in the Bay Area.

It’s my sister’s favorite Mexican dive place to get her burrito fix. The food is unremarkable but the tile work is epic. So I’d say go for the art work and have a bite to eat while you’re there.

This is my go to place for a Mission style burrito. I live in San Francisco and i’d rather drive to San Raphael than try to find parking in the Mission. The ingredients are super fresh. They have 4 kinds of salsa available and my favorite is the Habanero. It’s spicy and is full of flavor. The salsa is self serve and you can have as much as you want. The prices are great, the portions are really big, and the flavors are great. I always get the super vegetarian burrito and my friends get carnitas or some of the other meat dishes. They always have parking available. The people who work there are very nice and they play good music. This place is awesome!

The only thing better than their Super Vegetarian Burrito is their Wet Super Vegetarian Burrito. I think I just died and went to heaven. I asked for it with verde sauce and then sprinkled in the habanero sauce. It was incredible. The perfect blend of guacamole, salsa, beans, rice, sour cream, cheese. The proportions were perfect. Not too much rice. It was just perfect.
One of the best burritos I’ve ever had in my quest for the most delicious burrito.

Went back again for a Wet Super Vegetarian Burrito…it’s $13.38…even with the Golden Gate Bridge Toll it’s cheaper than going to the Mission. Plus you can just park. I’m adding some new photos.

Vegetarian burrito with both juices. Great food, always cooked to perfection with great ingredients, the fresh juice is the perfect compliment to any of their dishes and leaves you completely satisfied and refreshed. The white cheese they use is immaculate and not too sharp to overpower the taste of the other ingredients. Some times there’s no parking, but that is just a testament to how beloved and great the food is.

Wow! This place is great. We had the Chile Verdi Plate and a salad with shrimp. The plate was a good size portion and both were delicious. I loved the vinaigrette dressing on the salad and the flavor on the shrimp. We’ll be back to try more- in saw the nachos as we were leaving and they looked devine.

The outdoor area was really pleasant as well. We had a very good meal here.

Edit to add- both the grilled chicken burrito and the butternut squash burrito were fantastic. The squash had a delicious char to it.

The food here is amazing no doubt, the tacos and burritos are amazing! I am just bummed that I got a quesadilla with carne asada but there’s barely any cheese on it. It’s just a tortilla with asada lol

No salsa bar!

If you pay extra for chips, they will give you the whole bunch of chips with barely any salsa. What is the point of giving so much chips with no salsa going along with?

Salsa is pretty much tasteless. I wouldn’t get it again.

Super Carne Asada burrito is ok.

I don’t think I would visit this place again though.

I absolutely love Picante. I visit this establishment at least twice a week. I’m normally a 100% carne asada guy, but Picante’s chicken is out of this world and has me constantly re-thinking my burrito meat choices. Super chicken burrito with no rice is my go to order. Staff is super friendly and always attentive. Do not skip the orange habanero salsa, it is life changing!

To start, I’m one of those people for whom cilantro tastes like soap. It’s a genetic thing. It’s not just that I dislike it, it simply makes the food it’s on taste bad to me.

Upon ordering my burrito and asking for no salsa (as it contains cilantro) or cilantro, I took a bite of the burrito to find that it had been filled with cilantro.

Trying to salvage the burrito, I kept eating only to bite into a long strand of black hair.

I’m beyond disappointed in this place. Very frustrated to have spent any amount of money on food here.

This place used to have awesome food, as I remember. Recently, I stopped by and ordered a super burrito, but I ended up getting a plain burrito instead. When I brought it to the cashier’s attention, she proceeded to tell me what is not included in the burrito. I said fine, but the fact remained that I didn’t get what I ordered, and they were unable to correct their mistake. As for the food, the beans tasted like canned beans, which gave the dish a bland flavor. Overall, the quality has really gone downhill.
