Reviews
The food itself had good flavor, and I can tell there’s real effort behind the concept. That said, the service experience needs improvement.
I walked in alone and sat at the bar, and despite there being only a few people seated, I wasn’t acknowledged for about 15 minutes. A simple “I’ll be right with you” would’ve gone a long way. When I was finally addressed, I was asked if I had been served, even though I had just arrived.
After ordering, there was a long wait for my drink, I wasn’t offered water, and someone who arrived well after me was served first. I had to ask another staff member, Rose, about my order, and the confusion that followed made it feel unorganized. The blame was placed on Rose, even though she didn’t take my order.
When the food arrived, it was cold, and the mango drink (which came at the same time with the food finally) didn’t live up to the hype for me it tasted very syrupy. By that point, I didn’t ask for the food to be remade because I was ready to leave.
I’m leaving 4 stars because I see the potential here, and the food itself was decent. With better organization and basic customer acknowledgment, this could easily be a higher-rated spot.
I was there on 12/27 arrived around 6:50 pm
Thier waiting staff are friendly but could use more experience. They make frequent errors however they’re are so polite and quick to fix any issues.
Expect a long wait so order ahead if you’re picking up or have time to sit if dinning in
Pros:
Each of us tried a different protein: fried pork, fried goat, and fish. All were flavorful and well-cooked.
The rice was perfectly prepared! It might not be for everyone, but I really enjoyed its texture.
The DJ was fantastic and played a great variety of songs.
Cons:
Despite having a reservation, the wait time to be seated was disappointing.
Our server didn’t attend to us until 30 minutes after we sat down.
The food took quite a while to arrive.
The cocktails were mediocre. They don’t taste as expensive as they’re listed.
Suggestions:
The tables and chairs could use an update to make the space more visually appealing and comfortable.
Since the wait time can be lengthy, it would be nice to offer something to snack on while waiting, like fresh bread with butter, frikase, or papitas.
The menu could be designed to look more elegant.
Use fresh juice for the cocktails, and use different types of alcohol.
I’ll definitely be back.
Upon arrival, I was not immediately acknowledged. The hostess was on the phone and did not pause to acknowledge waiting customers. Another hostess eventually seated us but did not communicate whether a server would be coming to take our order. There appeared to be a lack of coordination among the staff, as they seemed unsure whether guests were dining in or picking up takeout.
For reference, I arrived at 3:03 PM, was seated at 3:12 PM, and my order was not taken until 3:30 PM. At that point, the server asked whether I was dining in or ordering takeout—something that could have been communicated earlier to streamline service. If the waitstaff had clearer communication regarding seated guests and pending orders, I believe service would have been more efficient.
As for the food, the homemade lemonade was excellent, but the Haitian soda became watered down after ice was added. I ordered an appetizer, which did not arrive until 4:33 PM, and my main entrée was served at 4:40 PM. While the wait times were quite long, the waiter was kind enough to apologize for the delays, which I appreciated.
Overall, while the food had some highlights, the service could benefit from improved communication and efficiency to enhance the dining experience.
