And if you want spice that actually steps up and swings, get the spicy marinated chicken. That thing does not play. Staff knows their food, they’re attentive, and everything you need is right there without you having to ask. Zero stress, all flavor.
I’m not even from the area, but I’ll be back off the strength of the food alone. And the best part? When you’re done eating, you hit that euphoria!!! Full, satisfied, but not bloated. Just that clean “life is good” feeling.
PHUH is the kind of spot that reminds you why food is one of life’s real joys.
The bulgogi fries are a star starter. There isn’t a ton of meat on top, but what’s there adds such a punchy twist to the idea of loaded fries. If I were to try it again, I’d love to ask for the sauce on the side since the liquid deluge – while tasty – softened the crunchy fries after a few minutes.
My husband’s pork shoulder was another hit. Marinated in a spicy-sweet gochujang mixture, it was tender and flavorful. He ordered it atop lettuce, but they have the option to have it over rice or in a banh-mi. I imagine any of those options would be fantastic.
If anything fell a little short for me, it was the phuh broth. It was hot and rich with flavor, but leaned a little too heavily into a licorice aftertaste that was uncommon and unpleasantly strong. That said, I loved that it came with jalapeño peppers, and unlike other pho noodle soups, an enormous serving of noodles. The soup also had a generous number of dumplings IN the soup, which made it more like a Korean dumpling soup than a pho (which is a plus in my book).
Parking is a little hard to figure out. There’s a lot behind the complex, but few signs to distinguish whether those spots are available for Phuh Roo customers. We chanced it and felt relieved our car wasn’t towed during our meal, but there’s some street parking in a nearby residential area if you’re risk averse and open to a bit of a walk.
I’ve had nothing but eggsellent vibes here, I love the late night hours, too convenient for my job in the area. Y’all are a delicious godsend, and thank you very much for all the pickled carrots!
Bulgogi dishes here are all flawless, gogi or mam-ma dishes are so reliable whether you just want meat & veggies or with sesame seed topped rice and that delicious fried golden egg
Honestly, everything is great here but my favorite thing has to be the bulgogi Banh Mi sandwiches w/ fried egg, avo, & other greens inside, the one thing here not pictured— just can’t help but eat it immediately! Such a filling ecstasy, would be lying if I said this sandwich didn’t show up in my hungrier dreams.
There are lunch special prices Mon-Fri, up till 3PM, iirc?? I really like that you can order at the electronic kiosks in-door but still pay cash, and it’s just as convenient to order ahead via the toast tab app
I was cold so wanted a hot noodle soup they sold out of their beef broth so he asked me if I wanted to try a vegetable broth, I was hesitant but he made it sound good so I tried it and it was really good! Got it spicy w a side of brisket and it had a lot of flavor and warmed me up!
Also tried their brisket fried rice, kimchi bacon fried rice, chicken wings w sweet& spicy sauce and also their Cajun wings, fried dumplings and everything was delicious and high quality!
They are very generous with portions as well so you will feel satisfied.
Overall great flavors and the best part they OPEN LATE!!!! I think it says 3:30am on their store front!
When everything is closed and you don’t want junky fast food this is the place to go!!
Our “go-to”s (must haves) are the kimchi bulgogi fries, banh mi sandwiches, the rice bowls, and of course pho. But we have tried pretty much everything on the menu, and it’s ALL excellent!
This new location is clean and there is a bigger dining area than the old location. The order kiosks make it easy to place your order, and there’s even a rewards program if you enter your phone number.
The owners are very sweet, and it’s clear that they love what they do as well as their customers.
Excuse the food pictures. We started eating before we remembered to take pictures so the presentation isn’t as nice as when we first got the food!
