Such great food and service. Smaller menus usually promise quality food and that’s what we got.

Came here with a reservation through Chase Sapphire Reserve on a Thursday at 5:30. It was quiet at first then got busier an hour in. But definitely not too loud like other reviews mentioned, but probably because we came on a weekday right at opening.

We got the crab noodles, baby bok choy salad, chili wontons, mandarin chili wings, olive yaotiew, and chilled tofu. Didn’t get the hype about the crab noodles, but really enjoyed the wings and wontons. We got the mango coconut dessert, which was comped because we celebrated a birthday which was very kind of the management. The dessert was also very good that we bought another one to share.

Federica, our waitress, really made our experience. She’s so sweet and extremely attentive. The employees were all good at cleaning our table throughout. Very impressed by the service.

Would definitely come again and recommend

I was really happy to finally eat here. Everything was good Cantonese food with a twist. The mussels had some amazing chewy pearl noodles that soaked up all the sauce. The chili crab noodles was excellent. Sweet and savory. The house roasted chicken was juicy and tender. The duck was beautifully plated and looked like a fusion of Korean pork ssam but with duck. Salted cuttlefish had a good texture and consistency. Also the mango pomelo dessert pudding was also very well executed. It really warms my heart that the younger generation is preserving Cantonese cuisine since we’re losing so much of it in Chinatown. Also the decor is so cute! And thanks to Kim for being such a great host.

immaculately designed restaurant great for small groups or date night! along with great vibes, the service was also wonderful, but the food was a hit or miss for me. Lobster sticky rice was so good, lots of flavor and great texture. the salad and the cuttlefish were both a bit disappointing. the salad was very interesting texturally, but flavor wise a little bland. the cuttlefish was kind of meh, all different sized pieces, some of them much too large and kind of rubbery, and the flavor was mild. Overall, I liked my dinner here but it wasn’t a wow for me.

Fabulous experience at Phoenix Palace last night. We shared three dishes – the duck breast with steamed flour wraps, chili crab noodles and chili wontons. The duck was so tasty with a unique fresh flavor sauce that was tomato based. The noodles and wontons also had a pleasant twist that just elevated the food to not your standard Chinatown fare. But what stood out was how friendly and welcoming everyone was from the hostess who helped get a spot at the bar last minute to the owner who walked us through the menu. The owner cared about our experience… something you don’t get often. We will be back to try all the other dishes that we did not get a chance to try!

I’d give this incredible place 6 stars out of 5. Our thanks to Chase Sapphire and the Sapphire table option at Open Table for helping us connect with this dining experience.

Exquisite decor. Professional friendly staff who took ample time to explain their history, connection with potluck club (and differences), and the details of how each dish was created. Food was served promptly upon ordering.

As for the food – quite possibly the best Cantonese we’ve ever had. We ordered most of the menu – the Olive Yaotiew, chilled tofu, mandarin chilli wings, chilli crab noodles, duck breast, a hand pulled veg flat noodles off the menu, and water spinach. Every one was perfect. The chilled tofu set the context as the first dish to arrive – soft, silky, amazing sauce. The Yaotiew followed with its crunchy deep fried satisfaction. The chilli wings were the crunchiest and softest wings we’ve had, and they sticky sweet sauce went superbly with it. The duck was amazing – crunchy outside, soft inside, cooked to a perfect soft texture. The flat noodles were superb, the crab noodles were out of this world. The water spinach was the only one that came close to what other establishments manage to achieve.

Amazing place – yearning to get back to try out the rest of the menu!

I’d like to shoutout my amazing server KIM. Definitely one of the most personable, hospitable, informative, knowledgeable servers I’ve ever had in NYC & I was born here. The food was amazing, so many fun, inventive dishes. The crowd was cool & the playlist was spot on. Thank you Kim & the rest of the amazing staff at Phoenix Palace, I cannot wait to go back with more friends

We managed to snag a reservation at 8:45pm which is pretty late for us but Phoenix Palace has been on my “to go” list for a while and we were both super excited. The outside looks like a movie theater with the shining lights and right by the entrance looks like a little ticket booth. When you enter, there is a retro jukebox and the interior is very cute. We ordered non-alcoholic drinks: the bowery sunrise and the spicy ginger soda from Hong Kong. We got the olive youtiao and salt and pepper cuttlefish to start but had the hardest time choosing a main, so we asked Ricky to gives a recommendation between the house special chicken and the lobster sticky rice. He told us that was a difficult choice and talked about each dish thoroughly and gave us time to decide. We ended up going with the lobster sticky rice because I have never tried forbidden rice and my husband was intrigued by the textures of the sticky rice-forbidden rice-puffed rice combo. We ordered one scallop vermicelli and ong choy as well. The bowery sunrise is super pretty and had a nice guava flavor and was very refreshing. The Spicy ginger soda is not spicy in terms of heat but is a nice ginger ale with hints of lemon and pepper. Both drinks were great alongside the food. The olive youtiao was super intriguing because we mainly wanted to try the lop churng jam since we’ve never even seen that before. The lop churng jam was amazing! It had the yummy flavor of meat from the lop churng so savory mixed with sweetness and a bit of tartness to even everything out. The fig mostrada was sweet and tangy and good as well but the lop churng jam blew us away. I was a little disappointed with the youtiao because it wasn’t as light as regular youtiaos but it still tastes good. It reminded us more of focaccia than youtiao. I don’t particularly like olives but the olive flavor isn’t overwhelmingly strong and went well with both sauces. The cuttlefish were huge chunks and had a nice crisp and bite. The peppers smelled amazing and reminded me of the fried pepper dish at dim sum. I was getting full at this point and had to pace myself for everything else. The scallop vermicelli smelled amazing as well but was a little too salty for me but I had a bite with the micro vegetable on top and the bitterness of the vegetable cut through the salt for me. The scallop was seared and cooked well. My husband love the vermicelli and was eating it up! The lobster sticky rice was great! The textures of the different rice were fun and the lobster was fried well and was not rubbery. The rice was fragrant and reminded me of my mom’s cooking. I kept going back for more rice. The fermented bean curd that was used in the ong choy was not what I was expecting so it was definitely different. I didn’t particularly like the flavor because it was a little fruity while being savory? I don’t know how to describe it but despite all of that, the ong choy was cooked beautifully and were bright green. The stems were a little crisp and added a nice texture. I told my husband that I need to take lessons because whenever I cook water spinach, they end up looking dull. Ricky came over and asked us if everything was okay because we had just about half of everything leftover. We asked for everything to go and asked if they sold the lop churng jam and, thank goodness, they do! Ricky was super nice and friendly and shared stories about the restaurant and the jam and gave us their dessert for free! The mango pudding had pomelo and lime zest on top. It reminded me of a mash up between the classic Hong Kong mango pudding and mango pomelo. The dessert was brightened with the lime zest and light, smooth, and thick in texture.
I highly recommend coming to check out Phoenix Palace! I’d definitely come back to try other things and I look forward to going to their sister restaurant Potluck Club!

The food was really delicious! Everything was well-prepared, really, and super tasty! I can say the same for the drinks! The staff were excellent, well organised and really friendly! Our reservation was a little late, as we arrived earlier, but they called us right away when a free table became available, which was really helpful and pleasant.

Had the best experience here with my cousin for dinner! As soon as we walked in we were greeted by the lovely hostess that complimented us and immediately gave us good vibes. Our server, Jason, was excellent. He was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic! The duck dish and rice noodles were the best. The coffee milk tea martini was also so yummy! Jason was so kind to give us a free dessert after our meal as well (the mango rice pudding). I have eaten at Potluck club (this is their sister ressy), but reservations are much harder to get there, so if you can’t get one there, def give this restaurant a try!

Heard about this place on IG. Everything was spot on. The food was unbelievable with nice flavor and originality. The ambiance with a backdrop of authenticity could only be enhance by low level beats of an amazing playlist. And last but not least, one of the owners Ricky not only took the time to have a great conversation but he also ensured to sing the praises of his chef and made sure our service was top notch. Make it a point to get here. Soooo worth it.
