I am a freshman BHS student, and this is week 1 of my Student Eateries Series
Today, I want to start this series off with a cozy restaurant: Pho Son
Pho Son is basically the lite version of the famous Pho Hong restaurant, although I’ve seen that the Banh Mis here are awesome, and the service was good too!
The waiters here were very nice! I arrived at around 4 PM, so I was the first customer there. Surprisingly, the food only took 10 minutes to arrive at my table! And they were freshly cooked too!
I ordered a Dac Biet for my dinner today. The flavor of the broth was AMAZING, and the meal was super fulfilling. However, I expected the broth to be piping hot, but unfortunately, the temperature was just medium. But, I understand that maybe it was meant to be cooked like that or it could be a mistake. Otherwise, the pho was amazing overall, and the atmosphere was cool too!
If you are tired of having to wait in line for Pho Hong, and are looking for a quick and comforting meal, come here instead!
I will be coming back soon to try their Banh Mi sandwiches soon.

Came here with a large party on a cold day, excellent choice. Got a number 5 with all the different meats, delicious broth and very generous amount of meat. Look at that rare beef right before it cooked in the broth. Perfection. Also got a margarita which was cheap and delicious, not too sweet. I’m from out of town but this would be a staple if I lived here.

This is the best Pho I have had. I asked for vegetarian and received fresh, tasty veggies. I just started posting on this site as I want to reward good restaurants since there are many not so good. This is a good one. Simple atmosphere. Great food.

Fantastic Pho with tasty and hearty vegetables that were soaked in great broth. We also got the fried vege roll and the spring roll which were excellent as well. The prices were fair and about the middle of the road when compared to other restaurants in the area. The food was ready in 15 minutes and the store was a nice spot with great seating. Will have to try dining in next time.

I am an Uber driver and have frequented this establishment on several occasions. There is an individual, presumably a chef and potentially an owner, whose demeanor I find to be unprofessional. Despite my professional and respectful conduct, he dismissed me, saying “Your dressed nicely but your just an Uber driver”.He subsequently assigned me a low rating, an action I perceive as unwarranted and solely based on my presence. I find this behavior to be regrettable, particularly as I was engaged in my professional duties, much like himself. I would like to avoid the store but it is out of my control. If this behavior persists I will be reporting it.

Overall my visit was great. The decor and vibe is comfortable and charming and the staff seemed eager to welcome and assist with any questions. The sausage banh mi was excellent, the bread just the right texture. My pho was a satisfying portion of broth and noodles and generous with the meat additions. Noodles were a little sticky but didn’t distract much from the overall enjoyment of the dish.
There seemed to be a bit of confusion in the kitchen as dishes came out very sporadically and I waited considerably longer than my table mates and even guests who arrived after me for my pho. Great addition to downtown, all in all.

I randomly popped in and unexpectedly enjoyed some of the best pho I’ve ever had. This laid back Vietnamese place has an extensive menu, offering many of the classics as well as some fusiony specials of the day. The pho was an enormous bowl full of quality meats, soft noodles, and tons of greens (green onion, cilantro, thai basil)- just how I like it. The star was the broth. It was complex and classic, you could taste that the aromatics had taken their time to enrich the flavor. In addition, the classic banh mi was layered with bright and fresh flavors. No skimping on meats or pate, and certainly not the spice. So good in fact, we ordered a second one before we even finished. A hidden gem of a Vietnamese cuisine amidst an American pub-tavern metropolis.

Went here a few years ago and got the lobster pho and it was fine (a little bland but I didn’t add the sauces they have available). Went last week on a cold afternoon and it was just what we wanted. Warm cozy space with quick friendly service. The wanton soup was really really excellent (and I get wanton as much as I can) especially with the hot sauce they provide. The cocktails and wine here are really competitively priced too. Lots of veggie/vegan options. Changed from 4-5 stars. Can’t wait to try more dishes and their bubble teas.
