Food: I ordered the chow mein and spicy shrimp to go. On the menu the spicy shrimp is advertised as just a picture of roughly 5-6 shrimp. I wasn’t aware that it came with steamed veggies and white rice. The cashier didn’t mention it, and the menu only had pictures with labels. The shrimp don’t look like the picture on their menu. The shrimp ended up having a thick squishy coating. Upon ordering I asked what heat level they were and was told they were mild. These did not taste mild at all and could’ve used more flavor. Overall pretty bland and underwhelming. I was hoping the chow mein would be the star and they were also just okay. Not a lot of flavor to them. I selected beef as the protein and got half beef and half chicken instead. Usually I don’t mind some veggies mixed in the chow mein, but as pictured, roughly half the to go container was solely veggies and chicken.
Overall the food wasn’t exceptional nor did I feel it was worth the $30ish that I paid. Looking back I recall the other two customers in the restaurant ordering Pho. If I ever do return, maybe I’ll just stick with that.
My wife and I decided to try this spot for lunch and upon entering realized the trash on the floor and uncleaned tables should’ve been our first clue to just leave. Additionally, the fact that at the peak of the lunch hour (12:15p) there were only 2 others in this large shop should’ve clued us in. Alas, HOPING that maybe the food would make up for the experience, we decided to stay and order.
The limited menu had quite a few of the prices changed, but I decided to order the “Shaken Beef” and my wife ordered an off menu “Vegetarian Vermacelli” (which came with a chicken eggroll…).
While paying for our food, I was surprised at the total cost of the meal. It was at least $5-7 more than the listed prices on the menu. Only after receiving the digital receipt (after we had left) did I realize they charged us more than what was listed on the menu.
We then had a seat at a sticky table and waited.
Our food arrived, and smelled decent, although it was concerning how small the portions were, and how poorly prepared it seemed the food was.
My “Shaken Beef” arrived with a scoop of white rice and lightly steamed broccoli. No seasonings for either. The beef itself looked tasty, but upon lifting it up, it was evident that it was completely charred and burned, and much of it was sticking to the cast-iron dish it had arrived on.
My wife’s Vermicelli was bland and far too small for the nearly $14 we were charged for basic vegetables, noodles and half-cooked tofu.
Unfortunately the inedible beef dish was the last straw and we left, having spent far too much money and leaving hungry. There seemed to only be 2 people in the shop, and neither were in the dining area after delivering our food, and we weren’t going to wait around to ask for a refund.
I’m hopeful other’s experience is better than ours, but based on the reviews, I’m realizing it’s a real problem.
