If you’re looking for the best pho in town. This is it. Their pho dac biet comes as it should with tripe and tendon in a perfectly balanced broth along with rice noodles, meatballs, and tender steak. Ample toppings were provided. The price for the delight it brought to me is unmatched in Boise. Only downside is that it’s a bit of a trek from where I live but I know each visit onward will be more than worth it.

Pho Nguyen in Boise is hands down the best Vietnamese restaurant I’ve tried in the area. Their pho is incredibly authentic, with a rich, flavorful broth that tastes just like the bowls I’ve had in Vietnam. However, the real standout for me is their grilled pork rice. The pork is perfectly seasoned and grilled, offering a savory and slightly smoky flavor that’s absolutely delicious. While the dish is a bit on the oily side, it only adds to the richness, making each bite incredibly satisfying.

Their spring rolls are another highlight—both the fried and fresh versions. The fried spring rolls are crispy without being greasy, and the fresh ones are packed with vibrant, fresh ingredients, making them a perfect appetizer or light meal. It’s clear that Pho Nguyen takes great care in preparing their dishes, maintaining a high standard of quality and authenticity.

What makes Pho Nguyen even more special is the story behind it. The owner moved here from San Jose, California, and brought with them a wealth of experience in Vietnamese cuisine. The service at Pho Nguyen is warm and attentive, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. The staff is friendly and eager to make sure you have a great dining experience.

Overall, Pho Nguyen is a must-visit if you’re in Boise and craving Vietnamese food. With its authentic flavors, generous portions, and welcoming atmosphere, it’s a place I’ll keep coming back to. Whether you’re a pho enthusiast or just looking for a great meal, Pho Nguyen won’t disappoint.

For the people looking for a Vietnamese person’s review.

I grew up eating in Westminster (Southern California) and now live near San Jose, CA. Pho and Bun Bo Hue are my favorite foods and I’ve eaten them from at least 50+ different restaurants each.

I ordered the spicy beef noodle (Bún Bò Huế) and had my brother order the Phở so I could try.

Both were great! Spicy beef noodle soup had a lot of good flavor. Meat good. Noodles good. Broth excellent.

It’s competitive and a bit better than your average Westminster/San Jose bowl of Bun Bo Hue which is far better than I was expecting.

If I moved to Boise I’d have to live within a 15 min drive of this restaurant to be happy.

I tried Pho Le in Boise which is good but Pho Nguyen is better.

Service was good.

I’ll be back next time I’m in town.

The pho is great! We actually compare it to a place back in San Diego called Pho Cow.

So far I’ve been to this location three times. The first time service was disappointing, we walked in and wasn’t greeted, we stood there a few minutes before finally asking if we seat ourselves and the young lady said “sit anywhere”, second time was a little better but still severely lacking in “customer service” and the third time we just opted for food to go and will probably stick to doing that.

Again, the pho is great, it’s flavorful and a decent size serving. The only other item we’ve tried is spring rolls and it’s nothing to write home about and not something we’d order again. I would like to try more of their menu and if someone asked, I’d recommend this location solely for the Pho.

On our journey to find good pho in Boise, came here as it was the highest recommended on Boise Reddit threads. This was better than the others we’ve tried so far, but still not a hit. Broth was a bit greasy and didn’t have enough flavor. It was also 80% noodles and 20% broth. They actually add green onions and the perfectly thin beef though, which we haven’t found in others. The grilled pork and shrimp bowl had a taste and smell of gas, which put me off it, but my partner wasn’t as sensitive to it. The Thai iced tea would’ve been perfect if it had more of the orange tea base and less cream. Chili sauce spoons need to be cleaned for sure… Service was very helpful and friendly though!!

Ventured to Pho Nguyen to check it out. We love Pho and wasn’t sure what to expect in this location. We were pleasantly surprised at the menu and how good the food was. The staff were super attentive and handled a full house quite well. They just opened the business recently and have a few kinks to work out, but you can tell they are serious about offering excellent customer service. While we were there, a lot of people came in to pick up their phone orders, repeat customers… and the staff remembered all their names, quite impressive.

The food was on point and portion sizes were just the right size, however the Pho bowl seemed to be a little smaller than what we’re used to for the price. Regardless the food was delicious.

The atmosphere was a combination of fast food and restaurant, with napkin dispensers and utensils at the table, but the hot tea was served in full sized tea pots and the food in regular ceramic bowls/plates.

They had a small selection of beer, wine and sake, and their “lime water” was really good! I’ll definitely come back and try more menu items!

Absolutely love this place! Amazing atmosphere, authentic flavour, and affordable price! The boba alone is worth being a separate shop. We ordered about 10 different items, and none of them was disappointing.

First of all, there are so many flies in this place that we were swatting them as we sat down that should’ve been a good indicator or not to eat. I have actually eaten here once before it was decent that was about six months ago today we ordered egg rolls. I’m convinced that the egg rolls were straight out of Costco some kind of frozen and then the deep fried they were disgusting. The meat is overdone was full of gristle. The service doesn’t bring you any utensils when I ask for spoons. They look very young to be running the place they spent most of their time watching TV and ignoring the customers. I will never come back here again and I would advise anybody else to see more authentic food elsewhere.

The pho is the best in Treasure Valley. The owner is very friendly and always gives my boyfriend and I their house-made chili and chats with us. We come up often and love it every time!
