First time trying Northern Vietnamese food and mom discovers her …
Reviews
Phở Hà Thành sits in what feels like a mixed-use residential pocket — a cozy craftsman home transformed into a space with the ambience of a fine dining restaurant. Warm lighting, quiet energy, and that unmistakable Northern Vietnamese touch that feels both humble and elevated at the same time.
Here’s what we ordered:
• A1. North Style Spring Rolls (Nem Rán) – Crispy, fragrant, packed tight, exactly how the North does it.
• A3. Fried Chicken Wings in Tamarind Sauce (Cánh Gà Mắm Me) – Sweet, tangy, sticky, addicting.
• B10. Special Phở with Stir-Fried Beef, Traditional Beef Broth (Phở Tái Lăn) – Rich broth, perfectly seared beef, deep flavor.
• D19. Grilled Pork/Chicken with Pickle & Rice Noodles (Bún Chả Hà Nội) – Bright, smoky, balanced… straight Hanoi vibes.
• Plus a Large Steak & Meatball Phở for my basic boy Alex — bowl was wiped clean in minutes.
Hospitality on point. Food on point. Vibes on point.
If you’re ever in Portland looking for real Northern Vietnamese flavors, this is it.
Certified. Approved. Stamped.
Khanh Preapproved.
The Sunday special rice porridge with pork intestines tasted like home. The congee was thick, savory and slightly sweet with tender yet QQ pieces of organs. Definitely add the sliced birdseye chili if you can handle it.
I thought about gatekeeping this one.
Treat yourself on a cold day and you won’t regret it!
We went in on a chilly Sunday and ordered the Bun Dau Mam Tom, Chao Long and Nem Ran- 2 of them were special dishes that only offer on Sunday. All of these are delicacy Northern food with fried crispy crab spring rolls, intestine porridge and the set of all kind of intestines with crispy from the outside but soft in the inside tofu (perfect pieces by the way) served with herbs and pressed noodle cubes.
Here is my take:
1. The crab spring roll – 4/5 (first time having it, quite surprised for the taste. My friends said its 5/5 for them tho)
2. Intestine set – 5+/5 (we ended up ordered another set on the spot . Highly recommended)
3. Intestine Porridge- 5+/5 ( was so yum, warming my soul on the cold day)
Oh, and they were very generous on the food portions. Price is ranging from 10-18 per dish but all worth it!
Believe this is a family owned restaurant just opened not too long ago, so all the food felt very homie, warm like having food from your mom/auntie. The uncle and auntie came out check on us quite a bit (very politely, not bothering at all), made sure we got all we need, they were so sweet
I did not get their Pho but would come back to try that as well as the Saturday specials.
