I had the privilege of trying their spicy wonton soup with beef broth! It was absolutely incredible!!
We also ordered the chicken fried rice, and it was superbly done — perfectly cooked rice with these crunchy little bits of what tasted like garlic that added amazing texture and flavor. Every bite was dialed in.
Beyond the food, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming — bowing, saying thank you, and genuinely making you feel appreciated. It was also heartwarming to see their little kids there, a true family business thriving in the Anchorage!
If you’re looking for authentic Vietnamese food in Anchorage — especially on a cold day — Pho Gia Dinh is a must-visit!! ❤️
I think the one area they could improve is offering different sized for their soup. I brought it up and they mentioned that offering one size is easier. While that may be true, remember that you can make the largest size the best value while smaller sizes have a better profit margin. That way you can give the best value to those who want it but also offer smaller sizes to those who are more price conscious and doesn’t need a large amount of food. This could bring more people in that may go somewhere else due to not wanting to waste food. This would also tickle down to a potential lower bill for ingredients, less waste, more servings.
You wouldn’t need to necessarily change anything other than having a back of house guide of how much soup depending on the size.
Just some food… for thought.
I order large Pho Combo for here and Grilled Chicken sandwich to go. I really like the soup and well cooked noodle. The well packed sandwiches is my late-night snack which is delicious also. It’s still warm 6 hours later. I think this sandwich will be suitable for late night work or picnic.
Dry noodle is a little bit on a sweet side for me but I think is to cater the American sweet tooth.
Service is fast and quick.
Pho Tai: vegetables are very fresh
Pork Chop: Flavor was spot on.
Spicy Wonton: Wontons are well made and tasty. Wish it had more stuff in the soup for the price
Banh Mi: Tasted great, can’t go wrong.
