Pho Da Bou on Upper James is hands down one of the best Vietnamese spots in Hamilton. The pho is rich, aromatic, and tastes like it’s been simmered with care for hours & deep flavor without being heavy. Portions are generous, ingredients are fresh, and every bowl comes out consistently on point.
The service deserves a shoutout too. Staff are friendly, welcoming, and genuinely care about making sure you enjoy your meal. Whether you’re dining in or grabbing takeout, everything is quick, clean, and well organized.

We normally go to the Cannon street location for our takeout and have never had an issue. However since we were up the mountain we decided to grab from the upper James location instead.
The first issue is that we only received one pho topping bag, which only contained enough for one of the soups ordered. I don’t know if the other bag was forgotten or if this location works different but our order is the same every time and we’ve never had this experience before.
Additionally we ordered fresh rolls, and when I say it looked like someone tore it apart prior to us getting it, I mean it. When we first opened the box I honestly thought they accidentally just gave us just a box of lettuce.
Nope – just the worst attempt at making a roll. While we still managed to eat them similar to tacos it’s not really the point.
Unsure if quality control is a consistent issue at this location, if it was a new person, or this is an ongoing issue. All I know is we will stick to the cannon street one going forward, for $40+ this was not really ok.

I would highly recommend this restaurant due to the fact that the food was served so quickly within 10 minutes of ordering. In addition, the best part was the service was very friendly. The host was exceptionally well mannered and lastly, our food was extremely delicious
I ordered the large Pho Bo Ga bowl (beef strips, beef tripe, beef balls and chicken) and my wife got the pork vermicelli bowl with a side of a small Pho bowl as well.
Green tea served in metal cups.
Very clean restaurant with a great atmosphere.
Pricing was good. Between my wife and I our meal was $27 and we were full

We have been a fan of Pho DUI Bo for a long time.The cooking here has always been tasty flavourful delicious.The veggies are always fresh ,the rice is perfect.I have ordered a wide variety of their menu items over the years and still haven’t tried everything,as their menu is so expansive.The service has always been very good as they approached our table a couple of times last night to see if we were satisfied.Be careful when ordering a soup dish,I ordered the XL Mytho seafood rice noodle Soup and the bowl was almost as large as my kitchen sink.I highly recommend coming here for a tasty flavourful delicious dinner or lunch.

We ordered from Pho Dui Bo recently using Skip the Dishes. We ordered Pad Thai, Golden Calamari, Buttery Frogs Legs and Fresh Rolls with Grilled Pork.
Skip the Dishes did a very efficient job, the food came quickly, packaged well and nice and hot. Overall the food was quite good. The star for us was the Fresh Rolls with Grilled Pork. The rest were as expected, very good but not out of ordinary. We did enjoy our meal.
If there was any complaint it would have liked a Thai sauce with the Pad Thai and chop sticks. I didn’t find those options when ordering but I’m sure they would be readily available when dining in.

One of the best phos I’ve had. I just came back from Vietnam and I’ve had a really hard time eating pho. The other stuff on their menu is good too, but the pho is the winner in my opinion. I drove down from Toronto twice to eat their food.

It was an okay experience here with my family. I am not sure if the staff here is quiet or not friendly. Food was okay compare to competitors. They use a different kind of vermecelli noodles (white and thick) as supposed to the one I prefer which was the clear, thin ones. Serving is fair. Overall, I give it a 3/5.
