I’ll be honest—I wasn’t expecting much, but PHO District 1 completely exceeded expectations. In what feels like a classic college town, this spot delivers seriously good Vietnamese food with bold, comforting flavors that hold their own anywhere.

The pho was rich, aromatic, and deeply satisfying—exactly what you want on a cold day or after a long one. What really stood out was how accommodating they were with customization. Every request was met with ease, and the end result was a bowl that felt thoughtfully made, not rushed or generic.

Service was friendly, the place was packed (always a good sign), and the food spoke for itself. If you’re craving legit pho and flavorful Vietnamese comfort food, this spot is absolutely worth the stop—and honestly, it’s a standout for the area.

I was greeted by the young host, and since I was dining alone, I was seated in a side section that was empty. I’ve asked if I can be seated in the main dining area, but was told that they keep that area for larger groups. It wasn’t full and I do think that a customer’s satisfaction should’ve been considered and better served, but I didn’t argue. A different young server came to take the order, and I must point out that both that interacted with me showed the least willing to be there, and do what they paid to do… pho was nice, although – as you can see in the pictures, they skimp a little on the add ons (sprouts, basil leaves). However there was a big portion of the noodles in the bowl. Not even ones I was approached to be asked if everything is ok, if I need anything, etc. seems like a nice restaurant, but service need to be better in my honest opinion.

Not as good as it used to be. Manner included.
I first recalled that the owner constantly inquired about the customer experience during the 2023-2024 period; not recently but spamming with uneven service.
One more point that I want to add here is that they are saving more meat? 16+ tips for pho special with only 3 slices of beef and half flour flavour meatball with the rest full of overcooked vermicelli. But it says from flank to brisket to fat brisket, right?

First time trying Pho and this was a great place to come! Got the daily special of Pork Belly Pho and shrimp spring rolls. Everything was good so well. Pork was crispy but not dry and broth was excellent. I will be coming back for sure!

Love this place, so, it’s a little hard to give them an imperfect review. I dine in and carryout often, and usually I’m stunned at how fast we’re served. However, my mom is visiting for Christmas, and so I was a little embarrassed at what a bad experience she had at a restaurant I raved about.

All in all, the food was delicious, as usual-for the most part. We ordered four appetizers, coconut, shrimp, Vietnamese, sausage, egg rolls, and the fried dumplings. The coconut shrimp and the dumplings were on the cusp of burned.

My daughter ordered chicken fried rice, which was good, and the rest of us, for in total ordered our preferred version of pho. The veggies were definitely skimpy, which is unusual, but the biggest surprise was the service. I almost feel like we made her mad somehow. She came and took her drink order and an appetizer order, and then after that, she either forgot us or avoided us. She served every table around us, except for ours, And after we finally flagged down another waiter, she came back once more, but any other interaction after that point was with him. We literally sat there for about two hours and 15 minutes to finish our meal, And most of it was spent waiting and wondering if she’d left. We finally realized she was sitting in a booth in the back corner chitchatting, but we never got any feedback on the complete and utter lack of attentiveness. We waited for the check for about 25 minutes, and I finally gave up and said we should just pay at the counter. At that point, the young man checking us out asked who our server was, and while I didn’t know her name, we pointed her out and he called her over. She took their little pay machine and brought up our ticket, and my mom paid. The sticking point was, that when it came to the tip screen, my mom didn’t push anything at first, mostly because I think she was discombobulated and trying to figure out how not to use the default amount-then the terrible server straight up asked if she was going to leave a tip. It was funny, because we’d even discussed the fact that we wanted to make sure that the male server who actually served us got the tip because he did the work.

Anyway, I hope this is not the new norm-especially because I plan on coming back for an annual “post inventory dinner” with my coworkers in a few weeks, and it’s one of our favorite traditions.

I also hope I can update this review at some point to indicate that this was a weird one-off, but it did leave a pretty bad taste in my mouth.

Order pho on your own. Vegetables served were not fresh and very little. Mung bean sprouts have funky smell and basal was nonsense to eat. Pho supposed to have three kind of meats as I order but I have only one piece flank but all brisket. Brisket have funky smell while I chow. It may prepared for a long time before I order. I will not recommend this place.

Landed yesterday and we were in the mood for something hot. This place did not disappoint pho was great, we built our own bowls with brisket and steak it was awesome, the melon boba with mango jelly was so good. Our server was super nice and quick, they had just opened so we were one of the only people there but the restaurant was clean and very inviting, thanks!

Conner assisted me on my order, recommended some very good dishes, overall I picked the combination bowl. The food was 10/10 broth was savory but most importantly, the service was spot on. Definitely will come back, and try other bowls.
Conner definitely made the atmosphere more welcoming. Thanks again

Very small and cute place. The staff is very welcoming and the atmosphere is very nice with the music they have going in the background. It’s not too loud, so you can enjoy some slight conversation as well.

The pho was delicious. My first time trying it and I ordered the Pho Special/Pho Dac Biet. Definitely want to go back and try the Pho Seafood Combination/Pho Hai San!

That was the veggie portion I received with my pho. When I asked the server for more, he said there would be an extra charge – but gave me a tiny bowl at no cost. However, the owner came by to check on the booth behind me, SKIPPED over me entirely, and then went to the booth in front of me to ask how everything was. This was my first and last visit. If you want amazing pho with a generous portion of veggies, take a trip to Houston! Even Dallas has better pho than this place.
