My favorite is the Dac Biet pho that has everything in it. The broth is delicious, especially paired with chili oil and hoisin sauce. We also tried the tofu pho and the seafood soup. All were great, as always. Highly recommend coming here!
Now, the food… as everyone else has commented, it’s excellent. Simple but full of flavor. Not greasy. I had one dish: tofu with rice. The vegetables were more for cleansing the palate. They were separated (carrot, daikon, cucumber) and not a huge portion. The grilled tofu was plentiful, firm, and did very flavorful. I didn’t really need the sauces that came with it.
Why 5 stars? Sounds like just an average meal right? I’ve eaten lots of Vietnamese cuisine and this was the best, but that’s not the only reason for the 5 stars.
The service! I had a rough time before entering the restaurant and just wanted some warm food and quiet. I asked for a table, but decided that I should get my food to go. The young man who took my order pointed out that my dish would come with fish sauce and asked if I wanted soy sauce instead. I didn’t have to ask. He understood that as I was ordering a tofu dish, I might have dietary restrictions. That’s top service. That’s the thing that would make me drive 30 minutes out of my way, to eat there again. Great food and Excellent service.
Also, we entered really late and were still eating after they closed. I know they wanted to go home, but they were not rude and were nice about it. I try not to do that as a rule, but circumstances led to that last night.
Very clean place with a nice atmosphere and polite staff.
The pho they brought me was a very generous amount of meat in it.
Unfortunately, the whole thing was lacking any flavor.
The broth had almost no flavor, same with the meat. Also the meet was tougher than I’m used to.
Overall, nah. Won’t be back.
Most places serve Pho that’s much more flavorful.
Once they get that figured out, they’ll be outstanding.
Definitely coming back if I am routed here again.
Moving on, unlike other places, we got two cups of iced water, no tea. The food I was after today was the Phnom Style noodle soup, which consists of pork bone soup, ground pork, slice pork, squid, and shrimp. The flavor of the soup was good. My wife had the combination rice plate with a piece of short rib. The portion is small compared to other Vietnamese restaurants. I heard the rice wasn’t that good, and the pork skin smells, so I cannot suggest this dish. The bowl of soup on the side considers a good gesture, but it was cold, so we asked for a hot one. The coffee is good, but it tasted more like American coffee with condensed milk vs. the real Vietnamese (French) slow-drip coffee.
I like the people here. I give this place four stars.
Would come back.
