This place definitely deserves a 5-star review for the quality of its food and its authenticity. I can agree with some: maybe it’s not the best looking… or the one with the nicest servers… but have you tasted its food??? The Rare Beef Pho is simply delicious. The Chicken Curry… well, amazing! Even the appetizers… the pan-fried dumplings are great!
I can’t wait to go back there and try new things… it was a very good experience for me and the delicious food definitely overcomes any other issues.

Like many dishes, what is deemed to be great pho is very specific to the person who is enjoying it. The majority of my experience with pho has been around Atlanta’s predominantly Asian area (aka Buford Hwy). Having said that, I found this one to be comparable. While I felt the broth was a bit saltier than I prefer, this place provided more meat than some other places around Atlanta. I’ve also noticed a slightly different consistency to the noodles at the Vietnamese places around Sarasota & that is probably due to differences in suppliers. I’ve eaten at two different places around here and both of the noodles were a little clumpy in spots. 4 stars for a great first visit; 5th star after a 2nd visit & having tried different menu options. The pho came out within 5 min after ordering; the servers were very nice & attentive.

Came back 10 years later and it’s still the best chicken curry I’ve had. Chicken is melt in your mouth, flavor is rich and unctious. Spice was perfect. I made a point to visit when I came back to visit Sarasota.

Pho Cali has the best Pho in town! My wife and I have tried most of the Pho places in Sarasota and although these other places are still good, none of them quite measure up to this place. Their broth has a little extra flavor and their rare steak is superior.

I’ve tried pho all over. This used to be my favorite pho spot in Florida and top 3 in the country. There was a reason why they won so many awards in the past. After switching owners, it’s been on the saltier side and taste less special.
Still recommend. Their lower rating is based on the previous owner’s attitude, but their food has always been excellent and still mostly is.

Been here about 8 years ago, wasn’t very impressed, or maybe i wasn’t feeling it that day. Have not returned in a while because i forgot about the place. Since i moved downtown 1 block away from the place, we decided to try the place again.
Obviously, the price has gone up by a lot($20 for pho now instead of what it was, which would be around $12-15 years ago), but it’s understandable because they are located in the downtown, i am sure they have to charge more to make enough to pay the rent.
Anyways, pho noodle soup was good (or good enough), was just a tad salty, so my wife had to add some water to it. I ordered chicken fried rice. It was one of the best fried rice i’ve had in a while. Nothing special done to it, it just tasted very good, no greasy flavor. Just fresh vegetable, and freshly grilled chicken on top. (no mysterious meat that you get from chinese place).
Overall good experience. Again it is a bit pricey, but it’s worth visiting when we crave pho and fried rice.
By the way, one of the strangest things i thought they had was that they don’t have the sauce tray (sriracha, hoisin, spicy garlic?). We have to ask for it, and then they give you the sauce in a little wasabi tray. I am not entirely certain if they are being cheap or doing it for some other reason. I am sure people waste a lot of sauce sometimes, but don’t be cheap and bring us just a little bit of sauce , ONLY if/when we ask. It was a little strange.

I love this place. One of the best places in Downtown Sarasota. I am grateful that they have vegan options. Today I went there for lunch to get some vegan pho but they were out of bean sprouts.
So, I decided to try something new to mix it up. I got the 117 Tofu Vermicelli noodle bowl vegan style. It was so delicious. Medium spicy. A nice sauce you add to it. Fresh veggies and well seasoned. I need to try out the other vegan options.

Updated June 2023: it’s been a year or so since I reviewed this place but our most recent visit yesterday left us feeling the food quality was not up to their usual standards. I hope this was a one-off bad night versus an indication that they are slipping. Customer service and ambiance remain great. I will update this after our next visit. Lowered food rating to 4 Stars, for now.
Best Vietnamese in the Sarasota region. Worth the drive up from Venice/Englewood. Clean, quick, tasty and authentic with vegan options. I recommend the banh zero/Vietnamese Pancakes. And their noodle bowls are the excellent.

I’m a pho lover but there is no Vietnamese near my home, so I try to find it whenever I’m traveling. I’ve probably tried pho in 15-20 places across the US. Pho Cali is the best pho I’ve tried.
We also ate lemongrass beef, shrimp with vegetables, and coconut lemongrass tofu. All were amazing.

There are few Vietnamese food options around here so when you have a craving, this place is ok. The clay pot pork was tasty but I had to spoon off half an inch of cooking oil before I could eat it. The garden rolls were good. When the pho came, we had to ask for the basic sriracha and hoisin. Weird! The quail wings were very good.
