The restaurant itself is bright, colorful, and full of character. Lanterns hanging from the ceiling give the place a lively vibe that makes you forget for a moment that outside the door Canada is trying to freeze your eyelashes.
The food was excellent. I ordered pho and noodles, and both delivered exactly what you want in Arctic conditions: big bowls, hot broth, fresh herbs, and lots of flavor. The portion sizes were generous enough that I had plenty left over, which came back to the hotel with me and turned into a perfect breakfast the next morning.
Unfortunately, the service didn’t quite match the food. During our visit the staff rushed a nearby table out the door because another reservation was coming in. Watching someone get hurried through their meal always feels a little awkward…restaurants should feed people, not run airport boarding calls.
So overall: great food, fun atmosphere, and a lifesaving bowl of pho on a brutally cold night, but the service could use a little more patience.
Still worth a visit…especially if Ottawa winter is trying to kill you and you need soup immediately.
The staff were incredibly kind and attentive. We ordered shrimp rolls, and they accidentally forgot our order at first. When the waitress checked in and realized, she asked if we still wanted it. We said it was okay because we were already full, but the owner still brought it out and said it was on the house. That level of care and generosity really meant a lot to us.
Amazing food, great portions, and even better service. We’ll definitely be back!
My friends told me they’ve been coming here since high school, overrr 15 years and counting, so that says everything.
Definitely worth a try if you want authentic vietnamese food in ottawa
That said, when it comes to authentic Vietnamese flavors, it was a bit of a mixed bag. Some elements felt close, but others were more adjacent to authentic rather than fully there. For example, the banh mi, while good, lacked some of the core flavors and crispness you’d expect. The papaya salad had no chilies, no nuts, and missing that punch that really defines it.
To be clear, I’m not saying the food wasn’t good, it was. My expectations may simply be higher, having eaten Vietnamese food in Vietnam and in Montreal, where there’s a very strong and traditional Vietnamese food scene.
Still a solid spot, especially if you’re looking for approachable, well-made Vietnamese-inspired dishes.
It looked very packed when we first came in, but we quickly got a seat and ordered. The food arrived promptly, and we enjoyed every sip of our pho!
The broth was amazing, the noodles chewy, and the add-ins delicious!
We also want to thank our waitress Amelia for the great service she offered. She made our short time there very memorable!
Overall, I definitely recommend you try this place out, coming from someone out of town!
I kept seeing them post on Instagram and I really wanted to go but ended up there totally randomly!
Probably one of the best bahn mi I have ever had and the brother to dip in was the perfect combination. Everything came out hot and fresh and fast ! They also have cocktails and beer! The restaurant itself is pretty small but reminds me of Toronto. I will be back again next time with friends
The main part, pho is extremely DISAPPOINTING. The broth taste like sugar water. Price for the portion size is wildly out-of-this-world.
Original: Food is bad and the pork chop is not even cooked properly for something that come after 20 mins and take some time to come around the table to collect order.
I was never served water when I sat down. When my food finally arrived, the server noticed I had no water and said he would bring some, but then completely forgot. Instead, I watched them deliver bills to other tables and start cleaning while I was ignored. After several failed attempts to get their attention, I finally got my water when I was already halfway through my meal.
As for the food, the flavor was okay, but the quality was poor—the noodles were mushy, overcooked, and clumped together in several spots.
The biggest red flag, however, was the hygiene. When I asked for a takeout box, the one the server brought was wet inside. This is extremely unsanitary. I had to ask for a new one because I couldn’t trust putting my food in a wet container.
Between the lack of cleanliness and the negligent service, I cannot recommend this place.
