I drive from Oakland all the way to Sunnyvale for work and Phin Cafe in Fremont is in between the long drive – and it has made the drive so much more bearable and exciting for me to visit when I do go into the office!
I absolutely love the modern vibes and aesthetics inside the restaurant. It’s so clean and a great coffee shop to get some work done. When it does it get packed during rush hours, seats might not be available but it only happened once on a Thursday at 10AM. Other times, I was able to find a seat to do a quick meeting.
Now for the food and drinks:
1. Vietnamese Coffee – 5/5 ($6.90) – Does the job
2. House Special with Egg Cream – 4/5 ($6.90) – It’s much more bitter than the one’s I’ve had, granted I did get less sweet (so that might be on me)
3. Pate Chaud Pork – 3/5 ($3.75 for one or $7.50 for two) – The pastry itself looks great but it’s overall super dry, even the filling inside. When you bake pate chaud, you want the flavor of the filling in parts of the pastry inside and it’s supposed to be soft on the inside and flaky from the pastry. I think they did a safe route and cooked the filling inside first and then baked it with the pastry. For the price though, I would still get it to munch in the morning!
4. Banh Mi Pate and Pork Roll – 4/5 ($9 with extra pate) – The Banh Mi itself tastes fresh, with a crunch to it but it doesn’t hurt the roof of your mouth. The filling is FULL but they did skimp out on the veggies (I got veggies on side). I had to ask for another veggies on side bag for the other half of my banh mi.
Overall, this coffee shop has my favorite morning Vietnamese food, pastries, and coffee AND the place is super nice, clean, and modern-esque, making my long commute to work bearable and tasty 🙂

Trendy spot fairly quick service. Average place for matcha nowadays.
They are definitely more of a matcha spot than coffee; coffee was nothing interesting.
Salt foam really complemented the matcha well and I would get it again.

Nice little spot to grab a coffee or matcha, and even get some work done. Ample seating, modern decor, and natural sunlight makes this a really relaxing atmosphere. Workers are also friendly.
PS: If you’re lactose intolerant definitely do not get any of the cream drinks

I have never felt compelled to write a negative review of a local coffee/boba place before, but unfortunately the service here was so bad that I had to. The baristas here are incredibly passive aggressive and don’t understand customer service. Apparently the in-store coffee is available only if you have a table – that’s fine and can be communicated professionally. But the seating here is so limited and crowded by people who order one drink and stay for four hours to study, so effectively that’s not a menu item that this store really wants to sell. Instead of explaining that when a customer orders that drink, the barista just very rudely asked customers, “do you have a table?” and repeated that question several times with a passive aggressive tone when she can see with her own eyes that all the tables have been taken.
The baristas also loudly argue behind the counter and don’t appear to get along. The wait for the drinks was excessively long. It was a really unpleasant experience. And to top it all off, the drinks tasted very average but were priced ridiculously high. I will not be returning.

Came here for the first time and was a nice place. Many different drink flavors to choose from. Somewhat small seating area but nice ambiance. Service was friendly and quick. I’ll come here again if I’m in the area.

We came across this spot while visiting WADAYA. While waiting for our check-in, I noticed there was a coffee shop nearby and decided to give it a try. It was my first time here, and I’m glad I did.
The coffee was really good—not overly sweet and not too bitter, just well balanced. Overall, it was a great experience, and I’d definitely come back again if I’m in the area. I’d recommend it if you’re looking for a solid coffee spot.

When I walked up to order, the employee taking my order seemed uninterested and didn’t greet me. She came across as disengaged and wasn’t very attentive while I was ordering two bánh mì and a coffee. It felt like she wasn’t fully listening, which made the interaction uncomfortable.
After I paid, I went back to politely confirm that my drink was iced, and she seemed visibly annoyed that I even asked. She responded with a brief “mhmm,” which didn’t feel very welcoming.

Local neighborhood cafe for me to frequently visit, especially over weekends. Staff is friendly and I have loved the beverages, favorites at the moment are iced banana matcha, egg coffee and iced Milo coffee. I like the variety of drinks and seasonal flavors . I like the colorful cafe and seasonal designs. It’s often busy for seating, for the small area I would say it’s great how they use the space.
As a vegetarian I have limited options for a savory snack, but occasionally I’ll get an egg puff. I know the masubi and sandwiches are popular.

Viet ice coffee with and w/o milk is on point and it’s great to have a less sweet option. $6 is about right.
However, the pandan waffle is mid at best as it lacks the chewy mochi-likw texture found in other shops especially in SJ area. Tried it once last year when they first opened and then again recently and I’m sorry to say there hasn’t been any improvements. Also charging $5.50 is quite high when you can get a better tasting one for $4 at the pho restaurant in the same plaza.

The ordering interface does not use the same item names on the actual menu. Why is vietnamese coffee under milk coffee? It took way too long for me to figure out how to order my items.
Cappuccino tastes like warm milk.
