The only thing better than the food was the excellent service. I ordered a burrito online and I received a call from them explaining they were out of the tortillas and asked if I was okay with tacos. They added more tacos and provided the extra sides that would have been in the burrito. Oh and the Black Beans had chunks of bacon and onions… So delicious!

Not only does this place serve great meat from the butcher, they also have a killer bento and sandwich/burger station. We opted for the Philwich and Chicken Club this time and both were very filling and tasty. It goes very well with the sidewinder fries.

I want to thank the head butcher. It was 4 minutes to 6. I drove past, and seen they had the doors open. I immediately turned in, hoping I could make it in time. After a long day, and nothing at home to feed the family (that didn’t need thawing out), I went in with determination I could find something quick and easy. Agian, it was closing. I quickly searched the case, deciding “ Steakhouse burgers”! While hurrying to Complete the transaction. I realized I have no hamburger buns at home.. We’re can I get hamburger buns at 6, heading in NW! No worries. Phil’s butcher hooked me up, out of their “own stash. “ no charge he said! Thank you for making my day, Sir! We will always shop at the friendliest Butcher shop in Portland! My Grandson is now telling his Friends in gorilla tag, that Phil’s meat markets the best burgers! McDonald’s sucks! Had to share.

We also ordered the Hawaiian Pasta salad it had NO dressing it was essentially macaroni bone dry! We called immediately upon discovering and the phone number keeps going to voicemail. 2pm and no one can answer the phone?? Here’s the dryed out tough “Double” bento

Ordered chicken noodle soup for lunch and had ZERO (literally) chicken or noodles!! Only reason I gave a 3 star was the fries were good and fresh.

I’m sure quality of meat is good, probably. But the prices are over priced especially if you get the bento. $11 plus tip for a tiny skewer of meat on a small bed of rice. Ehh.

I came into this place in May 2023 just looking for something to slap onto the grill. I was blown away by the sheer amount of options they had in here. They had a grab n go section with salads and premade lunches that all looked fresh and high quality. There was a staircase down to a bottom level and overall it was a step into a very welcoming environment. What I assumed to be the shop owner greeted me right away and it feels like a pop owned slightly manly environment. When I go into places like this I normally ask what is popular and what they think I should get. I left with a couple skewers and a few crab cakes. I spent a couple bucks but what I can say is that the crab cakes were freaking gold. For making them at home with little knowledge they tasted better than ordering them at a restaurant. Hands down I’m going back and checking more options out.
Get the crab cakes.

First time there yesterday. Smelled great so I stopped at the bento bar.
Two chicken skewers (4 bites) + rice was like $12. Seemed a little excessive but hey.. I want to support a local business.
The chicken was room temperature at best, and the rice was one congealed sticky brick hard to pull apart. I wasn’t very impressed with the quality one bit.
The flavor was good regardless, and the guy making it was super nice. I just wish it was actually hot and ready to eat. I won’t give it a 1-star based on a single bad experience, but at that cost, not sure if I’ll give it a second go after that.
