Dinner at Phil’s in Thousand Oaks was one of those meals where every box was checked. Service was on point from the start, and the pacing between courses gave us time to actually enjoy the evening instead of feeling rushed in and out.

My salmon was fresh and cooked exactly right. My friend’s steak and frite was just as solid. Sides were generous and came out hot.

The atmosphere was comfortable. You can carry on a conversation without shouting across the table. Good lighting, relaxed vibe..

If you’re in Thousand Oaks and looking for a dependable spot for a date night or a business dinner, Phil’s is an easy call. Consistent food, professional staff, and an environment where you can settle in for a while without watching the clock.

My Dad and I finally tried Phil’s for the first time tonight. We thoroughly enjoyed it. We sat in the bar/lounge in the back of the restaurant which was extremely cozy and had many TV’s with multiple games on. I ordered their manhattan cocktail and it was exquisite.

The portion sizes are gigantic so we split the wedge salad and it was fantastic. I ordered the prime rib dip and it was delicious. The combo of the au jus and horseradish was delicious and the beef was thinly sliced and perfectly cooked. My Dad enjoyed the stroganoff, but thought it could have used egg noodles and the sauce perhaps a bit thicker. It was still very tasty and I highly recommend Phil’s overall.

My only complaint is there are very few vegetarian or seafood dishes, since I have pescatarian family members.

Wow what a fantastic restaurant and bar. I cannot overstate what a great time we had here. First off the service was amazing. The staff was top notch and really made the evening enjoyable. We started the evening with the bacon wrapped shrimp which was fantastic. Then the spicy tater tots… a lot of restaurants just over cover the tots so there is no crunch…not at Phil’s they came out perfect. Just the right amount of crunch while still getting just enough of the spicy sauce to taste it but not over power the tater tot. Finally as the last appetizer the Mac and Cheese…..now I have had Mac and cheese before and I like to think I make a pretty good Mac and Cheese….Phil’s place has made me question my ability, and made my Mac and Cheese feel like it may as well have come from a box….it was hands down one of the best cheese sauces I have tried…not sure what the secret is but I would come back just for that…..the Entrees were just as good. We all shared a steak, the roasted chicken and the schnitzel. Each and every dish was spectacular. One of our group makes a darn good schnitzel and she is now crying that she can no longer make schnitzel after tasting the schnitzel at Phil’s. I was thoroughly impressed and if you are in the area this new restaurant is a definite must try. Thanks Phil’s you have really made a great first impression can’t wait to try more of your menu!

My husband and I went to Phil’s for the first time last weekend, and I can’t say enough about how much I love this place. The food and signature cocktails are amazing! They have a great happy hour, and the staff is so helpful and friendly.

The atmosphere truly takes you back to the “good ol’ days!” Phil himself even delivered our food to us, he’s such a great owner. He made us feel like close family friends and even gave us a tour of the place after our meal.

We’ll definitely be back and are excited to become their new “regulars.” 🙂

Look, I need you to understand that in the first place I don’t want anyone to know about this place. This is the bar that thousand oaks deserves, and I don’t want it to be overcome by everyone from tarantula Hill and sunset terrace. I’m writing this review because I legitimately appreciate what Phil and his wife have done for this town. I don’t want you showing up. I don’t want you being anywhere near for the food or the booze in any way. Phil’s karaoke is not a time that you wish it was regardless of your generation. Don’t show up here. Leave it to the OG’s.

Found Phil’s online and thought we’d check it out after a show at the Canejo Players Theatre. Great place. Phil was a fun and gracious host. The food was terrific and although not inexpensive was a great value. Fresh, hot and with generous portions. Mark waited on us and he was terrific. Lot’s of fun, laughs and full bellies. Be sure to check out the back room and bar. We spent a lot of time just reading all the signs. We don’t live in the area but the next time we’re here, we’ll be sure to come back.

Phil’s is a great place to meet a friend for lunch or a business meeting. Great wine and food selection. They’ve only been open for 3 months. I ordered the crispy Brussels- because if they’re on a menu, I’m ordering them! These were good but not great. A little too tangy and needed salt or another savory addition. My husband ordered the Buffalo Chicken sandwich and loved it. Went down easy and had great flavor. The ambiance is calm and relaxing. Across the street there’s a car wash, you can always drop your car to get washed and have a quick bite at Phils. Phil’s is also next door to Starbucks. Great little corner to stop at if you work in the area and need to eat.

Fun, friends, and family all go hand-in-hand at Phil’s. The food is wonderfully prepared and a taste treat. They expertly mix signature drinks like a smoked old fashioned, that you’ll surely remember. Best of all, you feel welcomed and at home. Karaoke nights just add to the many things that make Phil’s a unique and memorable dining experience.

Had dinner for the first time at Phil’s. Had a great dinner, Roasted 1/2 chicken was awesome; yet, the dessert – Apple Caramel Cobbler was unbelievable! Intimate setting, good drinks, bar at the rear was very cool, plenty of parking, plan to go back!
