Seventy-five years ago, we opened as a small gas station café and have grown and evolved with our beloved community. Our dedicated team is proud to be stewards of this local institution as we embrace living regional food traditions with attention to upscale quality, down-home hospitality, and local flair. We are thankful for all these years of robust support! We celebrate our 75th anniversary as the Midwest region’s winner of the James Beard Award in the esteemed category of America’s Classics.

Dinner , we talked through all our options and given fabulous wine recommendations. Our entrées were so incredibly lovely and we followed dinner with olive oil and balsamic vinegar tasting in back.
Overall, we had a decadent evening and will be back soon. Need to have dessert next time.
My daughter and I came for the weekend for girl time and we decided to go to the Pheasant for dinner.
Waiter was new? But he was a peach, we ordered drinks and Chislic (The appetizer) we got drinks and our food came out next, when asked about the Chislic, he apologized profusely and asked if we still wanted it put in. I said yes please! Very Quickly there was lamb Chislic at our table. It was wonderful.
The bartender was also the Hostess? “Do you have reservations?” was the question she asked. I am guessing staff didn’t come to work and she was doing double duty? Which we were grateful she was there, but RUDE?
Food was great, our waiter took 50% off the Chislic without telling us, but I hope we made his night as we tipped generously.
Would go back again, if we ever get to Brookings!
