I traveled all the way from California to visit family in Buffalo, and of course I had to do my homework to find the best soul food spot in town After asking around, my cousin pointed me toward Phat Catz Restaurant — and let me tell you, it did NOT disappoint!
Everything was absolutely mouthwatering The catfish was perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside — seriously unforgettable. The greens were seasoned just right and packed with flavor that truly woke up my taste buds The mac and cheese tasted just like something grandma would make — creamy, rich, and full of love ❤️ And the coleslaw? Fresh, balanced, and the perfect side to complete the plate.
The portions were huge for the price, which I definitely appreciated! I couldn’t even finish my meal and had to grab a to-go container because there was just so much food ️

Came for an overnight stay from Toledo to see Niagara Falls. Googled and stumbled on this place. Best soul food ever. Customer service was on point. We will be back.

Order 4 dinner at 630pm was told 1hr. Got food at 8pm order wrong i Order a pork chop dinner with greens, sweet potato and mac and cheese. I got pork chop potatoes salad cole slaw and string bean nothing i eat very disappointed 4 dinner all wrong

It was just ok. Too expensive to have chicken and pork chops cooked in old grease. I came 30 min before close ma6be that’s why but I dont have to go back. The fried fish was good. 5 bucks for a side of canned sweet potatoes. Definitely not worth it.

This was my first time going back to this place since the pandemic. There are some nice upgrades to the place. I ordered a piece of haddock that totalled $15.22. I was a little disappointed by the size of the fish compared to the sizes of other people who purchased the same fish. I don’t think I would ever buy fish at this bar restaurant again.

This black owned family business has the best soul food in town hands down. The restaurant is very clean, elegant and the ambience is giving high class…. They are very professional and friendly. Now the food is cooked to order and fresh and amazing. Baby let me tell you about the cat fish. Whew Chile ❤️❤️❤️ you will not be disappointed.

Amazing Service, Food & Drinks. We will definitely be back. We took our 3 year old with us and she was welcomed with open arms. We had the shrimp basket, Honey Cajun Wings, Garlic Parm Medium Chicken Dinner & Chicken Tenders w Fries. The bone crushers as a drink (get a DD).

We came here since we were in town visiting a family member. The food here is OUTSTANDING. The service was great as well. Our waitress Gigi was really really nice. If you’re lucky enough to get her at your table you’ve won.
The one thing you should prepare yourself for is a bit of a wait for your food. When it comes out you can tell it was freshly made but that does add to the wait time. If you can come here when there’s a game on or with chatty friends and you won’t notice that at all and the food is highly worth it.
Really this is a great spot that deserves and earns your money.
Oh one last thing. Their signature drink is the Bonecrusher. Get it but be prepared…..its strong.
