Nice little joint, nice owner/server, solid food. Owner is Laotian and not talkative, but nice.

Drunken Wide Noodle – more ketchupy than savory. Still on the hunt for the best drunken noodles in Wisconsin. Not here.

Pho
Cleared the plate. I love that they’re staying traditional and didn’t add sugar. So many pho places are adding sugar now and the broth is sweet. Here, it was good. But it wasn’t the traditional Vietnamese pho, and there were no meat choices to be made – it just comes standard with beef and meatballs. I could do without the meatballs.

I went in wanting to get pho, so I didn’t try anything else, but I’d love to revisit and try their other more Laotian fares.

Who knew… There was such a wonderful Thai restaurant here in KENOSHA… I’ve driven by here many times… Stopped today… The staff and the owners are just wonderful people… The food is fresh and tasty… I had the fresh rolls with peanut sauce… And then pad Thai with shrimp and chicken, I could hear it being cooked to order. Both of these items were so fresh and delicious… The portions are generous… And the spice is just right… I highly recommend coming to this Thai restaurant it’s absolutely a good find and the best kept secret in the area… I hope to return again soon.

Finding a great meal on a Monday is often a challenge, but Pha Khao Thai-Lao is a true hidden gem that far exceeds expectations. Tucked away next to a gyro shop (accessible via the Kwik Trip entrance or a discreet drive to the west), this “oasis of flavor” offers a sophisticated escape from the “same ol'” dining routine.

The Ambiance & Service
I was immediately struck by the classy, modern decor. The atmosphere is elevated by a full bar featuring a curated selection of cocktails, wine by the glass, and beer. Despite being a “hidden” spot, it clearly has a loyal following; the steady stream of takeout orders during my visit spoke volumes.

The Food
The menu is a wonderful blend of Thai favorites and Laotian specialties. As someone new to Laotian cuisine, I found it to be a tantalizing introduction.

Appetizer Platter: This was a standout. It’s generous enough to be an entree on its own and comes with a side of sweet and sour and a peanut sauce that is perfectly balanced—not overly spicy, but addictive enough to keep you coming back for more.

Tom Kha Gai: The coconut soup was rich and flavorful, hit with the perfect proportions of onions and mushrooms.

The Mains: The Beef Larb Na was spot on. We also ordered the Pad See Ew, which was packed with more fresh vegetables than expected. While it could have used a touch more sauce, the flavors were excellent.

Basil Fried Rice: A delicious side, though a bit more basil would have pushed it from “great” to “perfect.”

The Verdict
From the ambiance to the attentive service, Pha Khao blew me away on all counts. It has officially earned a permanent spot in my restaurant rotation. If you are looking to explore authentic flavors in a refined setting, this is the place.

Disclaimer: we tried 4 mains dishes, 2 beers, and soup for ~70, but one could easily have a great dinner from 10-20$

We came due to the good reviews.
Unfortunately we ordered Pai Thai , pineapple fried rice and pho.
Pai Thai and Fried rice taste okay…pho is terrible (the soup as the most important part was salty but nothing close to what you would expect from a normal Pho dish)

Finally we had the smallest portion ever of mango sticky rice for how much it costs

Atmosphere and service were good, food … definitely not good

Definitely a Keeper! My wife and I had an early dinner there on a Thursday at about 3:30pm. The first impression was good: the decoration was elegant without overdoing it. A well-stocked bar stands on the right, with seven tables lining the outside windows (all well-shaded from the setting sun). Two large TVs above the bar and on the back wall provide soft music alongside silent entertainment. Blue plastic sheets complement the white linen tablecloths, aside from woven placemats. Seating is comfortable and there’s plenty of room (all tables seat 4). There was only another table aside ours. Chan was our very gracious and attentive server. The restaurant’s name is pronounced “Pah-Kao,” meaning a festive family meal.

Ice-water was served immediately upon our sitting at the table. We ordered a Pha Kao Thai appetizers platter alongside Thai iced tea and a glass a Cabernet Sauvignon (Château St. Michel). We recommend all three choices which were served promptly. We liked the folded paper flowers atop the straws. This was a nice touch. Few restaurants in this category go through this extra detail and effort. For entrees we ordered Pad Ginger Chicken and Chicken Drunken Noodles. These two were perfect. We asked for “spicy hot” and, by Gosh, got what were wished for. I’d rate this as “runny nose spicy.” Portion sizes are adequate. We both took part of our dinner back home. For dessert, we enjoyed the delicious mango dish with cinnamon ice cream over a layer of sweet, sticky rice, and a few cookies. Empty dishes were taken away as dinner went on. It’s a detail that many restaurants fail to pay attention too, and we do appreciate the extra effort. All of this came under $100 for two, including tax (tip’s up to you of course).

We’ll be back for sure!

We’ve dined here twice and our food has always been delicious. Thai iced tea and coffee tasted so good. I’m glad we have this restaurant here in Kenosha for added cuisine variety in our community. Clean and fast service, I highly recommended this place! Will keep coming back to try other items on their menu.

Our new favorite place in Kenosha. We have been going this winter and its a little cool in the space but the food is fresh and hot so it balances out. Everything we have ordered has been delicious. We always order the fresh rolls with shrimp that are served with peanut sauce. There is enough for an entree even though it is an appetizer. We have tried several menu items including red curry and also noodle dishes, pho. All recommended.

My sister and I got crab Rangoon, spicy pad Thai combo, pad broccoli and the mango sticky rice. We shared it all. It was all so good. Best Thai food i have had in a long time. Good Thai food is hard to find in Kenosha. I can’t wait to go back and try more things. The waitress was friendly and kind too. Fast service as well. It was amazing

Fantastic! First time here after being referred by friends. Great portion sizes and incredible taste. My husband and I are both vegetarian and loved that they offered their main dishes with tofu (but they offer many other protein options!) we both enjoyed curry dishes.
Everyone was extremely friendly to us and they were even so generous to add in vegetable spring rolls for us to enjoy (so good!). We will definitely be back and sharing with others our experience. What a gem in the area!
