Found this place today and I wish I found it a long time ago. The seafood here is fabulous! You get good size servings, they are not skimpy. This will be a repeat for me. I highly recommend this restaurant.

I really love what they’ve done with the place. It’s very nice and open now! Our waitress was great considering that the dinner rush picked up. Also, lots of friendly support staff and owner.
The food was delicious. We ate it all! I did have a piece of fish that was under cooked. They were apologetic and made it right.
I am from New Orleans and visit when I can. So, I’m glad to have something like this close by.

Some suggestions would be to look at how the seafood places in NOLA server the seafood platters. Usually, there’s a big bed of fries with the seafood on top, many hush puppies, lemon wedges and cole slaw. The crust is usually thick, flavorful and crunchy on everything too. Google search Deanie’s, Acme, and Chimes and look at the review pictures. Mmmmmm. So good. They’re long time establishments that are pretty consistent.

I will try to come back some time during a slow hour to chat and try the cocktails.

Thanks again for your service! I wish you all the best of luck.

So delicious!! Got the Captain’s platter (Cajun fried catfish, shrimp, scallops, and crawfish) tater salad (made in-house) and fried okra. It was so filling and I had to take a lot to go. The mini crab cakes were also so yummy, husband got Cajun fried catfish with sweet potato waffle fries (drizzled with honey & cinnamon) and onion rings. Can’t wait to be back or recommend it enough!

Wonderful food. It was a great surprise to find such good seafood outside of a commercial chain. This is definitely the kind of food you would find at a mom and pop stand along the gulf. Delicious and home cooked. The staff was super friendly. The owner was walking around talking to everyone individually. One of the cooks was around too checking on the food and what everyone liked. She was even passing out free samples of their newest menu items… Let me tell you…You WANT the boudin balls… They have remodeled the whole restaurant and added a bunch of extra seating and a new bar. I highly recommend giving this place a try and I will be returning frequently to make sure I can try everything there. As a note I had the gator po boy and it was well worth the money, large fresh bun/loaf, with a good portion of fried gator… Quite tasty…

We finally got to try lunch here the other day and it was Amazing. I got the gator sandwich with fries and I swear the fries were the best I’ve ever had. My husband got a platter of different things and he ate every bite. We got stuffed shrimp as an appetizer and it didn’t disappoint. Parking is easy- can park across the street. The owner and staff is by the friendliest and you get your moneys worth. So glad Simpsonville has something so good now!

This place is great. Reminds me of some of the local favorite spots to eat in Hawaii. Cool little diner, great tasting food, good sized plates, and decent service. Will return!

Update:
Came back! Great seafood. Consistency is key. Owner is a cool veteran. If you’re looking for a good seafood spot, I highly recommend Pettyboy’s.

We’ve been twice so far and loved the food both times. The fish
sandwich on the po boy bun was excellent. We also tried the shrimp po boy and it was excellent. I’m picky about my french fries and onion rings and they were crispy and delicious. The people are friendly and service was good. We will be back to try more things. Thanks for coming to Simpsonville.

Last night we ordered from Pettyboys on the recommendation of one of our neighbors. From start to finish we had a wonderful experience. I called earlier in the day to ask a couple of questions about their menu. The person that answered the phone was kind, informative and patient. We ordered take out a couple of hours later and the same person answered the phone. She was so nice and even joked around with me. She invited us to come in to eat and said they had live music and outdoor seating if we wanted it. I was ordering the boil platter and had asked for all shrimp because I have never had crawfish and didnt know if I’d like it. She assured me I’d like it so I went ahead and got half shrimp and half crawfish and she was right, I loved the crawfish. When my husband got there to pick up our order he said they were very busy, which is usually a sign that the food is good. He also said the place smelled phenomenal when he walked in. He said the staff were really nice and friendly. We ordered the crabcake and it was probably one of the best crabcakes I’ve ever eaten. There was enough to share and everyone loved that crabcake. Most crabcakes are mostly filler and little crab. Well not here. The crabcake itself was the size of a quarter pound burger and mostly crab and little binder. My oldest son actually said he could eat 12 of them they were that good. He also got the gumbo and said the flavor was delicious. His only complaint was that it was a little on the thin side and didnt have enough meat as he only got 4 shrimp and no other meat. As he is a chef by trade that was more of a critique than a complaint. He was surprised that it actually came with the rice and couldnt even finish it as the portion of gumbo was so large. As I said earlier, i ordered the shrimp and crawfish boil and the portion was far larger than expected and it was so very yummy. It was actually served in true style on newspaper.
I would have liked more than 1 piece of corn and 4 potatoes as I ordered the full platter but i can overlook that simply because it was that good. There was so much shrimp and crawfish in my container that I could share with everyone and everyone loved the flavor and couldnt get over the portion size. My husband got the grouper sandwich and the size of that filet was huge. He let me have a bite and it was very delicious and perfectly cooked. My youngest son ordered the crab omelet and although it wasnt his favorite he still ate every bite. Dont let the detour you from ordering this as he is a very picky eater and always has been. My 6 year old grandson got the fried shrimp kids meal and again the portion size was put of this world. I’d say he got 10 large shrimp and a good size portion of their yummy mac and cheese. All in all we absolutely loved Pettyboys and will be going back often. I love that they are a locally owned family business and they are only about a mile from our home. I also love that the owner is a veteran. I thank you for your service sir. The owner goes down south to provide the freshest seafood this side of the gulf of Mexico and you can tell in the flavor of his food. We love our first experience with Petyboys and cant wait to eat there again. Great job everyone you really impressed us from start to finish.
