We had an amazing dinner at Petra’s. We found it on trip advisor and had great reviews so figured we give it a try. We parked just to the right of the restaurant by the beach. We ordered lobster, chicken with curry (amazing flavor) and samosas. We also had some rum punch and beers. The waitress was nice and friendly. They accepted credit cards too. It appears to be a small family run business which is what we love to find when traveling. All the food was great! Highly recommend.

There are 6 restaurants to choose from in lower bay ! They all have their unique flavors and personality. If you want the real homegrown cooking start here! Petra will always come out with that infectious laugh ! You can usually expect to see one of her sons waiting tables Josh & Jordon and believe me they both have their own special rum punch that each claim the top spot…it’s worth the price of admission.

If interested in fishing trips, or anything fishy for that matter talk to Josh and he’ll hook ya all up!
All in all a terrific experience whatever you eat. Vegans are also accommodated.

1. Attended twice during my stay (ie one breakfast + one lunch).
2. The woman who runs the place is lovely – she is friendly, hard working and makes great food.
3. There are many options on the menu.
4. She makes everything fresh. The wait is not that long. If one wants good food, then one must be patient and wait. Relax and enjoy the wonderful surroundings.
5. For breakfast, the omelettes are great. I wish that I had tried a roti.
6. The prices are reasonable.
7. Petra’s is only a short walk from Keegans Beach Resort.
I attended this wonderful place again in November 2021. We had a lovely experience. Petra is extremely kind and I have always enjoyed the food.

5 stars FOR SURE!!! Pleasant spot steps off the beach with great ocean/palm tree views. Petra is a wonderful lady, runs a great business with a small shop adjacent to her restaurant. If you drink, order her rum punch! I would say 3 is your limit – strong and GOOD! The food here is so reasonably priced with big portions and absolutely some of the best food i’ve had in the Caribbean. Get the fish roti!!!! I have also heard her breakfast is amazing. I haven’t tried it as we went for lunch but I did stop in earlier in the morning to view the menu and very reasonable yet again with lots of offerings.
OH! Also good to know- she can make your drink to go in plastic for some beach fun. $10EC for rum punch – best deal on Lower Bay Beach!! You will not regret going to Petra’s. 🙂

So friendly and nice. We have eaten here twice and it was delicious. I would highly recommend if you come to Bequia this is a must to stop I and eat. Can’t wait to come back and eat.

Petra’s is at the SW end of Lower bay, (on Bequia Island) down a side street. Petra who owns the place, and cooks for her patrons, is a larger than life character. She takes great pride in her cooking and together with her sons run this joint. Her fare is delicious, reasonably priced and good value for money. Petra also bakes bread and regularly takes orders from customers the day/night before, for collection the next afternoon. If you are in the area, give Kee… a miss, walk 5mins down the rd, and try Petra’s, you will not be disappointed

Petra’s is a hidden gem that serves fresh and delicious food. Since we love Caribbean Lobster, we ordered her grilled lobster. What a treat! The meal included fresh made beans, plantains, vegetables, twice baked potatoes, and a side salad. My husband also enjoyed one of their local beers, Hairoun.

They have two signs on the property that say they are open at 7am. Our party came here excited for breakfast at 7:15am and the restaurant was closed.
A local approached us and mentioned that they never open on time. In fact, he said he didn’t understand why they say they open at 7am when he’d seen them usually open around 9am.
My photo was taken at 8:30am and the restaurant was still closed.

Best rum punch…2 is your limit! Fresh food, home style cooking, lobster salad and red snapper available, be prepared to wait for good things , island style and island time…and your hostess Petra is great character.
