Petra Mediterranean / Middle Eastern Grill and Grocery was a nice stop for a different kind of lunch. I chose the Greek Salad which had lots of feta and black olives along with tomatoes, cucumbers, a few purple onions and the greens. The dressing was a little acidic for my taste, maybe just a tad too much vinegar. My dining mate ordered fried ground lamb dish over rice with vegetables including green beans, carrots and peas. She deemed it delicious and the portion was huge. We both had to-go bags. One orders at the counter and the food is brought to the table. I asked for tap water, but was told it was not available and bought bottled water. The grocery section is so interesting with many different imported foods and desserts. The store was pretty busy during our lunch, and the background music was actually reading verses from the Quran.

We had driven by Petra several times before we finally had time to stop and investigate. What we found was a small grocery stocked with things you will not find at Kroger and a menu from half way around the world. It’s a small, yet cozy, place to enjoy food we don’t usually eat. You order at the counter, grab a drink from the cooler, and in a few minutes your food is in front of you. The Mediterranean spices are unmistakable, the spanakopita was crisp and the schawarma was tender. I nice find in Roanoke.

It’s a little hole in the wall place suggested to us by a guy in a food truck (we wanted a place with some vegan options) and it was worth the stop! The food was delicious! The falafel wrap was 100! (Though I’m a Heinz ketchup devotee so I didn’t try the ketchup here.)

Delicious food. Fresh appetizers and sauce, crisp vegetables in salad, and tender well cooked kabobs. Super friendly people that served me. Would recommend to anyone in the area.

This place is small but it gives such good food. The chicken shawarma was fantastic especially with the garlic sauce. The fries were crispy and seasoned super well. Talking to the people was easy and nice and the service was fantastic. Overall great place I’ll most definitely be coming back

Traditional Jordanian fare at an excellent price. The lamb shawarma is fresh and wonderfully seasoned. Honestly, if they sold the tahini sauce by the bottle I would buy it.

Delicious food. I came here because my first choice was closed and glad I did- it was excellent. The falafel wrap was one of the best I’ve had and the tabbouleh salad tasted very fresh. The rice was well seasoned and flavorful! I love that they had a grocery section as well, and picked up a few items that I can’t get elsewhere. Highly recommend!

I had beef shawarma and fries. The shawarma had a great flavor and the fries were seasoned nicely with a nice crisp to them. I will definitely stop back in the next time I’m in the area.

This is honestly one of the worst Mediterranean restaurants I have been to.
first of all the staff was horrible they are very rude and they can’t even speak English I don’t know why they are at the front taking orders when they can’t even understand what I want to order, second when I finally ordered my food they gave it to me and the portions were the size of a toddlers plate I went and asked the guy at the front why my chicken shawarma is filled with lettuce that I paid almost $15 for and why its so small be began to tell me to never come back to the store which I gladly will never be coming back to this horrible restaurant ever again, if you’re planning on coming here don’t even waist your time.
