Retro-chic, snug bistro serving oysters, steak & seafood specialties, plus wine, coffee & donuts.

Ahhhhhmazing!! The best quality for your money in Boise. Incredibly knowledgeable staff and the chef is a culinary genius. If you don’t go, you’re missing out. Make reservations if you go. A must taste in Boise… seriously addicting for dinner and, just as delicious for coffee in the morning with the ricotta donuts… they’re absolutely divine!

Wow. Finally got to try this place after being out of the country for a few months. Everyone has been raving about it and boy did it live up to the hype. From the scotch egg, to the perfectly rare and seasoned steak, finished with an amazing dessert selection, I couldn’t be happier.
The atmosphere is so inviting and unique in Boise with mellow LA hip hop beats, modern design, and inviting color. From the Le Cruset serving dishes to the impeccable dishing, Petite 4 is now at the very top of my list to bring guests to. 11/10
P. S. the fire pit out front is a great touch for people waiting.
Dress Code: Casual, but business casual will fit in better.

Enjoyed happy hour oysters, shrimp and a seafood Bloody Mary. The oysters were so good, could have eaten dozens. The pound of shrimp was good served with some exceptionally good cocktail sauce. The seafood Bloody Mary was a treat. The crab claws, shrimp and fixings were delicious.
Will definitely have to check out the full menu in the future and dine inside.

Incredible! The beef tartare was inventive and still familiar. The oyster were fresh and the sauces great. Mussels were amazing – even if a little tricky to get to the incredible sauce. Duck sausage – Yes please. Highly recommend. Highly.

This may be Boise’s best restaurant, both in terms of food and service. We’ve never ordered anything here that we haven’t been awed by. Each dish is wonderfully balanced with what seem like standard French dishes given compelling new twists. Their menu is small and targeted but rotates regularly, always giving you an excuse to return. Dessert is a must, so save room. And don’t miss their soda cocktails with interesting bases, flavors, and herbs creatively combined for a delicious result.
Also anyone on here who complains about “bad service” and blames a mandatory 20% tip, you’re probably not a very nice person and should probably just stay home and eat canned soup ✌️❤️

We have been to Petite 4 twice and both times it has been a wonderful experience. This French inspired bistro offers a variety of dishes meant to be shared. The low octane cocktails are right up my alley, and the draft beer selection is small but very nice. The composed Oyster was so delicious we had to keep ourselves from order a bunch more! The Bayonne ham charcuterie plate was simply delicious, from the fresh baguette to the simple and utterly delicious salt & butter. The Brussels sprouts and seafood voul au vent were delicious as well. Everything we tried was on point, already making plans to go back. Make a reservation or show up early because it is a small space, otherwise it’s worth the wait!

Donuts, coffee, bouchons, Nutella pop tarts, and scotch eggs. All so very excellent. I’m thankful that Petite4 decided to implement the Saturday donuts and coffee format. Go stand in line, just like in a big city, to get your treats. You can eat on their smallish south patio, the parking lot, your car, or take it with you. It’s reasonably priced, and the quality is ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.

Today, I discovered that the review I previously posted re: Petite 4 on Google has been removed, as well as my photos. Although my experience was poor, my review was a fair and legitimate review that was not in violation of any of Yelp’s content guidelines. In the spirit of providing constructive feedback, I am re-submitting my review and photos.
On March 20, 2019, I went to Petite 4 with two friends. We started by ordering two appetizers to share; Gougeres and Croquettes. My choice was the Gougeres.
I was surprised when the Gougeres was served. A gougere is a small, airy French cheese puff made of baked choux pastry that has grated cheese mixed in. Petite 4’s version was two oversized gougeres. They were visibly burnt and had none of the airiness normally associated with this dish.
The Chorizo and Manchego Croquettes were good, but not exemplary. It would’ve been a better choice for the chef to stick with a classic French potato croquette versus attempt one that paid homage to the Spanish style, which only leads to comparison. Personally speaking, I prefer the Basque style of croquettas.
I ordered French Onion soup, which I forgot to take a picture of before I began eating. The soup was beautifully presented in a red bowl and looked delicious, but had little to no flavor. I kept adding salt to it in an effort to coax out some flavor, to no avail. French Onion soup is one of my favorites. I’ve never been so disappointed as I was with this version.
For my entrée, I ordered the Cassoulet. It was overcooked and dried out. After taking a couple of bites, I asked for a to go box. My hope was that refrigerating it overnight might give the flavors a chance to meld, and that perhaps the center of the dish was salvageable. Alas, it was not to be.
My friends both ordered the Moules-Frites, which they enjoyed. I didn’t try their dish, a simple meal most can make at home. The frites looked like dried out little match sticks placed on top of the mussels, instead of the crispy pomme frites traditionally served along side the mussels.
We would have liked to have tried dessert, but we weren’t offered any. Given that the majority of the dishes we ordered were not good, I took it as a message from the universe that it was time to move on.
Putting my experience into context, I grew up in countries that were colonized by the French. Not only am I familiar with French cuisine, but with the exception of the chef’s Spanish take on Croquettes, I have previously tried every dish I ordered, albeit prepared by classically trained French chefs. It’s the discrepancy between Petite 4’s versions and those others that I find so disappointing. I recognize Petit 4 is a favorite of many. Perhaps my experience was a one off. Even so, being served 1 out of 4 dishes that was palatable has understandably left me less than eager to give it another try. Knowing that the owners seek to have legitimate reviews and photos removed, leaves me with even less incentive. C’est la vie!

Honest to God this may be the greatest restaurant I have ever been to in my entire life! It is without hesitation the best tapas style restaurant and best French restaurant I’ve ever been to! Everything from top to bottom is accounted for when I consider this fact. The food, service, ambience, value, etc are all exceptional! I’m trying to find a way to trick Google into letting me give it more than 5 stars, seriously! The food completely blew my mind. The oysters had a mouth-watering mignonette and pure horseradish! The croquettes melted in your mouth and had a clever complement with the delicious tomatoey romesco sauce and grated cheese. The salted brioche with butter was unbelievably addicting; super soft bread with a crunchy exterior and perfect amount of salt. The butter was creamy, rich, seasoned perfectly. I never go hard on bread and found it difficult to stop eating it in order to try more amazing items. We also tried the steak and frites; tender juicy medium rare steak, pan-seared on the outside and soft enough to cut with a fork on the inside, with a block of mushroom butter melting on top, joined by crispy frites with a herb-like aioli. And then one of my personal favorites: the mushroom vol au vent! I won’t even try to describe it; calling it a culinary masterpiece is putting it mildly! Please just order it! Astonishingly, we had room to try the sticky toffee pudding and it was so good it nearly made me cry. The service is as best as you’ll ever come across. From the moment we stepped in we felt welcomed. DK was so cool, upbeat, and friendly; took our drink orders while we waited. Will and Bob served us on the greatest level possible and were so much fun to hang out with and talk to. Really cool bar lighting, green shelves, wall paintings, and classic boom bap golden-era Hip Hop music playing In the background is their ambience (i.e. this place is my whole mood). I joked by asking if anyone had ever moved to Boise for a restaurant before, implying we’d consider moving just because of our experience, but that’s far from a farse. These guys deserve every ounce of hype coming their way and then some!

Second visit, just as good as our first. A really lovely little space, better for couples or at most groups of four. The rotating menu means there’s always something new to enjoy. We tried the croquettes, the ratatouille, the smoked salmon crepes, the Brussels sprout Caesar, and the lentils, all of which were delicious. Consensus pick was that the crepes were the best. The ratatouille is very good but almost overwhelmingly flavorful – the two of us couldn’t finish it. Looking forward to our next visit.
