The bartenders are extremely friendly and attentive and remember what I’m gonna drink every time I come here. The bar itself has a great atmosphere with live music on the weekends and both an inside and outside place to hang. It’s a gem somewhat hidden away in Old Town Helotes. If you enjoy a higher end cocktail you can go next door to St. Pete’s where they have a DJ or karaoke. Great vibes here. Been a personal favorite hangout since it opened. You won’t be disappointed!

Nice vibe and decent bar food, but sitting outside in early February was really uncomfortable. There are heaters installed everywhere, yet four tables around us—including mine—were freezing. When we asked the staff, they told us to check with the “door guy,” who claimed it wasn’t cold enough to turn the heaters on.
I really wanted to enjoy a night out, but we ended up leaving. Four tables asked a simple, reasonable request, and it was denied— even after asking someone who seemed like a manager. A good business listens to its customers. Sadly, this one doesn’t!!

I had always enjoyed frequenting Pete’s Place up until a recent visit for Sunday afternoon football. Charging $15 for a Pinthouse Electric Jellyfish IPA pint is simply outrageous. I asked the bartender if she was sure that was correct because it is one of my favorite brews. I drink it often when I’m out, and it is at most half the price elsewhere. She said yes and asked if I’d like to get confirmation from a gentleman behind the bar who I assume was the manager on duty. I then asked the gentleman to confirm that was the accurate price, and he stated, “Yes, it’s a $250 keg”.. As I attempted to wrap my head around the $15 price point and how many beers a keg provides, he stated, “Don’t hurt yourself trying to do the math.” I chugged the pint and called the group of friends who were meeting me out there that we would take our business elsewhere due to the inflated price and insulting interaction from the manager on duty. Will not return or talk highly of Pete’s Place going forward.

I re-vsited this place with my now fiancé and everything was going well until a guy bartender who had long hair, about 5 foot 7 inches, wore a hat, and looked to be some sort of hispanic ethnicity triple charged me! He claimed it didn’t go through the first and second time. After checking my bank account and seeing and showing both charges went through he proceeded to demand I pay or to just leave immediately. Meanwhile my fiancé is a trying to drink her drink and the dude has the audacity to tell her to stop drinking until I can pay a third time. He tells me to just use cash which is beyond suspect at this point. A random guy days he’ll cover our two drinks after about 10 minutes of this bartender being difficult and trying to overcharge again. This bartender then mocks me and very loudly says “see, this guy’s card went through.” We have never felt so embarrassed and unwelcomed in a bar in our entire lives, especially one that I used to frequent for years. We both recommend to avoid this bar at ALL COSTS!!! Or at least until they stop hiring rude, sketchy, ignorant people. Both charges went through by the way. He just lied to my face saying it didn’t go through when he double charged and was trying to charge more. Ruined the entire night for us and we aren’t able to get out much nowadays so we are pretty upset about this. Hands down worst bar around!! And thats saying alot because i used to frequent the square in San Marcos for years a while ago when I was in college there. DO NOT go here. I repeat DO NOT go here!! Spend your money elsewhere where they will actually take care of you and not make fun of you whole extra charging.

Great spot to watch the game and enjoy a beer. Check out their daily specials, Tuesdays and Wednesdays especially. Live music. Food service is slow so expect to wait an hour or more. Don’t expect them to get your food right but if they do, enjoy.

I love this place. There is almost always a good crowd, the bartenders are friendly. Today I had Hannah and she was just warm and nice. Something I’m not used to in Houston. You can also see the hills when sitting at the bar inside. Happy Hour is typically 4p-7p. All day Wed & Sunday. Till 9pm on Fridays. Every HH they offer $2.75 domestic and $3.75 wells. $6 beer and shot combos. Tuesday is their BIG $1 beer night. It gets crowded, they offer Bud Light, Miller Light, Coors Light, Michelob Ultra, Ziegen Bock, and Leineys drafts for a dollar those nights. Just a cozy bar, good vibes, insane prices, and they have TV’s in every corner if you’re into sports.

Hidden gem in Old Helotes. Great outdoor seating with HUGE tv for events and a bandstand as well. Pool table and shuffle board table inside which also has HUGE tv and a small stage. Apparently the kitchen was closed for Spring Break? Hmmm, I guess it’s run by school kids eh!? Glad the bartender stayed at work! Looking forward for return visits to hear some local music. Thanks for letting me hang out.
