They charge for tater sauce since i can’t eat spicy food so had to pass on Petes spicy sauce. They have it to me out side of the bag along with the water & then the bag of food only to get a few steps before my tater sauce fell off the top of the bag my other hand was holding my water. Wasn’t able to go back for another since waiting for my food i took my change back into my vehicle. Want worth the extra steps I would have had to take dodging the cars that were in the drive thru. Oh well everything else is great with this place

So my wife & I just moved here to AZ. My work brought me out here. I love AZ ……BUT….the level of disappointment i had with the fish & chips was high. The service was great from the staff and the atmosphere was great. But does Arizona know what fish & chips is??? I mean the fish I received were square patties. The kind you buy in the frozen food section at the grocery store. Tasted as if i was eating a hash brown from McDonald’s. Then they dont have malt vinegar neither. That’s like kool-aid with no sugar. But something must be good to the locals because the lines were long inside & in the drive thru. So dont take my word for it. Try it yourself

I’ve seen bumper stickers, sweaters, and heard folks talking about Pete’s fish and chips for a long while now, so on my way home I decided to roll through Tolleson and grab a plate. I got the #2, 2 piece fish, 9 shrimp, and a drink.

I should have known right off the bat, that this place wasn’t going to be good as it was fairly cheap, but I also assumed that was because it was “Cash only”

I can’t wait to dig in because the drive through line was packed, the patio seating was about ⅓ filled and the atmosphere seemed to be jumpin’.

Roll up to the window, lady has my order wrong, she apologized spit off another order, not mine. Sorry I didn’t think to myself how is this possible, there aren’t any cars in front of me since I’m at the window and a buttload behind me, but I ordered in sequential order so how is this possible.

She repeated the order that was mine, I gave her my cash and then she proceeded to give me a drink that wasn’t mine.

Unfortunately, I drank from it to realize that it wasn’t mine and I asked for a new drink Even though she repeated my order to me which included the Dr pepper, she then claimed that I ordered a diet Pepsi. Nothing wrong with people who do drink diet drinks however, I’m not one who needs that, And unfortunately my irritation let that quip out and she rolled her eyes. I deserved that I roll as I shouldn’t have said that however, I was already irritated.

Food comes out in a oversized bag with just a plate, a napkin crudely wrapped over said plate and everything jumbled onto a single plate, mind you, I got two pieces of fish, french fries, nine pieces of so-called shrimp, and a 32 oz bev.

The first thing I noticed was the thick breading on the so-called shrimp. The shrimp were fried in a non-traditional manner, they must have been breaded uncoiled and dipped into the fryer lengthwise and I have never seen this done before. At first I was a little teed off because this is just another franchise doing something different however, I put that thought aside and tried it anyhow. Easily the worst I’ve ever had. Zero seasoning in the shrimp and the batter. So now I have eight shrimp that aren’t going anywhere but the trash.

So I look at the square piece of fish and I say to myself, the breading center here but I don’t see an ounce of seasoning. Take that first bite, nothing, not even a lingering fishy taste. Completely unseasoned and maybe salted.

I will say that the fish had a better taste than the shrimp did for sure.

Now on to the fries, fries were soggy as if they had been sitting for a while, lightly salted with little to no flavor outside of a potato.

When I tell you this was the most disappointing experience I have ever had with any place that produces fish and chips, I am not even close or remotely close to being facetious.

This place is hands down the worst place I have eaten at in the state of Arizona.

These types of places are only fueled by people’s curiosity, loyalty, laziness and/ or culture vultures.

If you are accustomed to eating seasoned fish, seasoned fried fish, seasoned shrimp, seasoned deep fried shrimp, seasoned fries, or anything seasoned whatsoever, do not waste your time or your cash here because this is not the place to do so.

If you have hypertension or have a consideration where you can’t have anything that tastes good, this place is perfect for you!

Tolleson resident , I don’t usually buy food here cause I think it’s not that good for the high prices. Also not being able to pay with card and limited to 20 dollar bill I don’t want to use your arm cause of a charge. Get better

Came highly recommended but I thought it was just okay. Batter on the fish and the shrimp was a little heavy for my tastes. No tartar sauce. Only Pete’s Sauce. It’s not bad. Best for the fried shrimp but I prefer tartar sauce for my fried fish and ketchup for my fries. Anyway, I went back a second time, for chicken strips this time, and again, I found the batter too heavy for my liking. Exterior seating area is pretty drab. Didn’t find any employees smiling or thanking me for my business either. Oh, cash only. No credit or debit cards accepted. There is an ATM on the premises. Anyway, I tried this local favorite and found it was okay.

I know this place is a cult classic but I was disappointed. The fish and chips were mediocre. The cash only business model is a bit of a nuisance but also positively adds to the experience strangely enough. At the end of the day it comes down to how good the fish and chips are. In this front, the square fish pieces were truly no better than store bought filets. Also the tartar sauce is sold entirely separate from meals (which only come with ketchup). I made it home by the time I realized they provided no tartar sauce and had to make a return trip.

Good fish n chips , worth a try but unfortunately too far of a drive for me personally after driving to pick up (30 min) Great service, good fish, reheated well! I did find it odd that they don’t offer regular tarter sauce but some red Pete’s sauce which was tasty but not regular tarter I’m used to.

I have been eating at this establishment my whole life. 3 generations literally between my Grandpa, Dad and I. This location ruined it for me. Bit into my burger and bout broke my teeth. The patty was burnt solid and was horrible tasting. It’s a shame because I love this place but this location really lowered the bar. The Glendale location never disappoints, I will not be giving my business to this location again.
