We came here to eat about a month or so ago, after having a bad experience at Fat Sats. Their food is definitely made with pride, friendly service, and a beautiful establishment. Absolutely added to our rotation.

This was a beautiful restaurant. Dining room has cool old country tables and chairs. The salsa tastes fresh and delicious. Chips were fresh. Green chile cheese nchilada dinner was so good. Sopapillas were fresh and good. Nothing bad about it There is also an outdoor area to sit when the weather gets warmer.

You want an authentic “New Mexico” experience, this is the place to go. We loved our time here enjoying the food, great service, and warm, delicious “sopapillas” at the end of our meal. 100% recommend!

We had a wonderful experience tonight. We are in New Mexico for the Balloon Fiesta and we had ate at Pete’s Cafe 3 years prior during balloon Fiesta. Great meal, great service and wonderful server

I had the Relleno plate at server’s recommendation. It came out fast and was piping hot. The fry bread sopapillas were amazing. I could eat about 20.
Really great meal! I recommend.

This restaurant used to be one of my absolute favorites — great food, friendly staff, and an atmosphere that always felt welcoming. Unfortunately, everything changed after the new owner took over. What was once a reliable and enjoyable place has become a huge disappointment.
The quality of the food has dropped noticeably. Dishes that were once flavorful now taste bland or poorly prepared, they now charged extra for chips and salsa
It’s sad to see such a good restaurant lose what made it special. I truly hope the new owner listens to customer feedback and brings back the standards that kept loyal customers coming for years. Until then, I won’t be returning

I come to Pete’s Cafe every month for the Navajo Taco Plate with Red Chile. They have been preparing New Mexican food since 1949. You are greeted with a fresh red salsa and chips as you are seated. Friendly staff, flavorful food and great prices. A very nice experience. The red chile is superb!

Pete’s Cafe is a fantastic spot for authentic New Mexican cuisine! We tried two of their special dinner items: the Pete’s Shrimp Taco Plate (Menu #2) and the Chicken Flauta Plate (Menu #7). Both were excellent choices.
The Shrimp Taco Plate featured two soft flour tortillas stuffed with perfectly grilled shrimp, garnished with fresh toppings, and served with a creamy chipotle sauce that added just the right amount of kick. It came with rice, and the warm sopapillas were the perfect complement to the meal.
The Chicken Flauta Plate offered three crispy, rolled chicken flautas paired with guacamole and sour cream. The flautas were golden and crunchy on the outside while being tender and flavorful on the inside. The rice on the side were seasoned perfectly, making this dish a standout.
In addition to the amazing food, the service was quick and friendly, and the restaurant had a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. We highly recommend Pete’s Cafe if you’re looking for delicious New Mexican food in Belen!

The food was phenomenal!!! Definitely recommend the petes shrimp tacos! Enjoyed the Chipotle sauce that came with it. The red Chile is HOT but very flavorful and delicious. Sopapillas are also Devine as well!!! On top of that both the Italian creme cake and chocolate cake were super delicious . Restraunt and table were overall very clean. However, the service was alright. Our server wasn’t as attentive and it took us a while to get drink refills and our check. I understand why though. It was a busy friday night and all servers will be busy. I am also a server and I understand that at times a dinner rush is overwhelming :). Other than that I had an amazing time and I will definitely be back again!! Definitely recommend!

Are you kidding me? This place was horrible, horrible, horrible! These guys must’ve hired people to write. Good reviews About this place. The service was OK. The restaurant was nice, but the food was terrible. The green chili was absolutely laughable. There was nothing but water with chilies in it. Even the beans they serve up our water down. The chili rellano was so bad I couldn’t finish it. It had way too much crust on it, and it was overcooked. My wife’s tacos had burnt hamburger in it. I’m not kidding when I say I would actually rather eat a Taco Bell. Chances are you won’t believe my review and how bad this café was so I’m not gonna try to convince you not to go. I’m just reserving my right to say I told you so.
