best german food in town! cheap too. the schnitzel here is to die for. they also have german groceries you can’t find anywhere else. been coming here for years, they have daily specials that are cheaper than fast food and much more substantial. hearty, delicious german food!

My friend and I, both German, drove from San Antonio to Las Cruces for a couple of days and decided to swing by Peter’s for a nice German meal that we had read about. We were a little surprised when we had to order the food at a counter, take a seat, then they announce that our food was ready. I went inside and imagine my surprise when I went in to pick it up and it is served on paper plates with plastic silverware! The food looked good but there was a funny smell when I picked it up. My friend said the schnitzel had been cooked in old grease. The potato salad was just OK. Both of us wanted to use the restroom before we left because we had a long drive ahead of us and it was filthy! There was so much junk everywhere and everything looked dirty that it did not remind us of any kind of German establishment. Very disappointed. Those of you who love it and enjoy it keep on doing it!

The best german food i had honestly.

Everything made in house, even the bread. Love the bratwurst, highly recommend. Jägerschnitzel was also great. The cakes are also recommended if you want something sweet afterwards.

We had the most “wunderbar“ experience at Peter’s German Grill & Bakery for lunch today! A special treat while visiting from Las Cruces, NM.
The Bratwurst & Currywurst plates were scrumptious and the pretzel with mustard on the side added to the special treat.
The German chocolate cake was delicious!
The staff were kind and accommodating.
Darling decor with plenty of German groceries to choose from.
We’ll be back!

We were REALLY excited to try this place as we haven’t had authentic German food for a couple years. The interior was very quaint although the seating was not plentiful. We ordered a number 9 and a daily special (brat and soup). We had assumed it was a made to order restaurant so we were bummed to hear the microwave dinging on and off. The jagerschnitzel was bland and a bit chewy. The mushroom gravy tasted like it was from a jar or mix. The brat was okay. The red cabbage tasted from a jar. The potato salad was the highlight and quite good. Fresh. We tried a couple desserts. They were a good bit dried out sadly. Likely from being in the frig and not wrapped. We had tried the orange cream cake and Black Forest cake. We bought a couple items from the store area. We were pretty disappointed in with the food although it was decently priced. We wouldn’t come back sadly.

My wife and I moved from the northeast to the west side, and we were stoked that we still had a German place near us. By our old home was the little Bavarian resturant, and their food was great. So we go to try Peter’s, hoping for at least the same quality, if not better as some of the reviews really spoke highly of the place. We were very disappointed. The atmosphere is nonexistant in my opinion. It’s more like they opened a small German grocery store and selling prepared food was an afterthought. The food quality was akin to buying a hungry man tv dinner(if they made hungry man schnitzel). The quality was so sad that we didn’t even finish half our meal. We ended up tossing it and going to get taco bell. Perhaps we just stopped in on a bad day, as the reviews for this place speak mostly to our experience being a one off. Personally, we now make the almost hour round trip to go to our old German spot in the northeast, which considering Peter’s is about a 5 minute drive from our new home I think speaks volumes.

Let me start with the fact that there was one lady working doing everything and I do mean everything, felt bad for her. Nest the food was mehhh literally mehhh. There was a decent selection of German beers but wow the pastries where the worst!! I have never tasted a bad German pastry but the two that we got with outrageous prices almost 10 bucks a slice that we threw away cause they were no edible at all!!! I do not mean that lightly. I understand now why that place is empty. This is the bodega of German establishments. Seriously! In other words look elsewhere. Not joking! The only good part of this place was that the poor lady working showed that you can always find a diamond in the rough.

Peter is the Bestest person on this side of the world .
He’s always very nice, friendly and professional. I loved the fact that he spent time chatting with my 87 year old father and refreshed his memory and German language.
Thank you Peter for your excellent support and your food is amazing.
God Bless You!!!

We drive 2 hrs from Deming, NM to enjoy the food at Petes. Sometimes even headed back home with loaves of fresh made bread, brotchen and sausages. The food choices are limited but are very good. Love their Curry Gravy. Enjoy several choices of German beer. They even have a small section where you can purchase items.

When we walked in it felt like we were in Germany again. Lots of things we hadn’t seen or had in years. Authentic german food. Great place, food & service. Peter was friendly & helpful. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back. For both the restaurant & market.
