Old-fashioned tavern serving sandwiches, chowder, pub grub & hearty entrees since 1975.

5 star kitchen and 5 star bar. This is the best restaurant in New London Great food, great people, great atmosphere. Food is prepared quickly and professionally, and service is amazing.
Some of my favorite dishes include the seafood chowder, the steak tips, the caesar salad, the sheperd’s pie, and especially the chili. The menu is huge and they have all kinds of food available.
And if you want to stay the night, there’s a nice inn right in the same building.

We stopped in here on our way home from Woodstock VT. We both had the Shepherds pie, there are two sizes and we got the larger. My husband thought the serving was a bit small for the price, I actually couldn’t finish mine. The food was warm and filling, definitely could of taken a nap afterwards.

7/17/25–Today, our friends spent their last morning at our rented lake house. He decided to meet his cousin at the Peter Christian Pub, so we tagged along. Since lunch was around 12 p.m., I considered it a gift from heaven. We drove through winding roads and finally made it there. The food was delicious! He insisted we try their mustard sauce, claiming it was the best, and I have to say, it was pretty amazing. I enjoyed my burger and fries—usually, I don’t eat these things, but hey, when you’re at a pub, you’ve got to go with the flow, right? And the beef stew? Hands down, the best I’ve ever had

Nice tavern. Food was good (although not spectacular). The cocktails were excellent and the bartender was great. She had an amazing energy and made everyone happy. The decor inside is interesting and reminded me of taverns in Europe. They have a nice selection of draft beers too. Will definitely recommend people to stop by and grab a bite and some libations.

A neat little spot right in the middle of New London. The shepherds pie and wedge salad are quite good as is the French Dip. Speaking of French, the French Onion Soup is done right here. The broth is packed with onions while not being overly salty or bland. Staff are friendly and helpful even when it’s busy. The service is usually quick, but bear in mind it does her busy since it’s one of just a couple sit down restaurants in town with table service.
It has been remodeled, which is nice, but some of the ambience that made it feel like an old time New England tavern style eatery. They did keep some of those old tables with the high walls around them. If you’re going for that old school colonial vibe, you’ll be disappointed since from the outside it looks modern and trendy.
They offer standard pub/tavern items. Nothing stands out or is unique, but it’s good. The bacon was sparse on the wedge salad as was the red onion.
Serving sizes are plenty, unless you’re looking for a giant meal.
I’d recommend it, but if you remember it from before the remodel, you may be a little disappointed like I was.

I attended the soft opening. The food was some of the best have had in this area in a long time. The fresh clean look of the new tavern nice. Its open but still has a cozy rustic feel. I will be dinning here on the regular with family and some adult nights with friends. Bacon wrapped pork tenderloins was amazing. Don’t overlook the poppers or wings

Cozy wooden tavern. Great offering of non-alcoholic, alcoholic drinks & beer. Prime rib is to die, nachos the best, delicious wings and great pizza, sandwiches, salmon, salads… everything my family has tried is beyond delicious. Have returned many times and will continue to do so. Note: they have a souvenir shop in the small building in the back: t-shirts, books etc…

This place is not good. Despite the waiters being friendly, and the food coming out faster than usual, the food was definitely sub par. First of all, they RAN OUT of regular pizza dough. How ridiculous! Then, when my wings came out, they were awful. The bones inside broken, and they were clearly not fresh. Finally, for all the people thinking about going here, the only good thing is pizza. Goodbye.

A great place to eat breakfast or dinner. Go to the bar area, as the atmosphere is better there for a drink and food. We had their breakfast and the selection was great. We had the California eggs Benedict and quiche of the day.
Try the pizza it’s delicious too.

Food tour continues through New Hampshire. We popped into @peterchristiansnh in New London, which had a great ambiance. Had a bloody mary and wedge salad. Thanks, Cheri, for taking care of us, we’ll be back on a Friday night in the near future to visit
