I recently had dinner at Persona with my cousins and it was a wonderful experience. Our party of 5 started off with some bread and butter, and a dozen of the oysters mignonette for the table – these appetizers were fresh, high quality, and delicious. Serving sizes sufficed. For my main dish, I ordered the cavolo nero chitarra with medium rare steak and it was excellent. My favourite part of the meal was the banana tiramisu affogato I ordered for dessert! That was probably one of the most creative and delicious affogatos I’ve had in Hamilton. Nonetheless, we had an enjoyable dinner and would definitely come back!

We recently visited Persona and were completely blown away. We opted for the “Chef’s Table” tasting menu ($65/pp), and from start to finish, it was an absolute masterclass in flavor, presentation, and service.

The Service
A huge shoutout to our server, Maria. She was absolutely amazing—attentive, knowledgeable, and she made us feel incredibly welcome throughout the entire evening. It’s rare to find service that matches the high caliber of the kitchen, but Maria nailed it.

The Culinary Highlights
* The Tower of Bites: The meal started with a stunning tiered presentation. The Warm Taleggio with chili honey on challah was a standout, perfectly balanced by the fresh Oyster with blood orange.
* Ricotta Gnudi: These were literal clouds. The combination of brown butter, pine nuts, and the sweetness of the crimson grapes was genius.
* The Mains: The Arctic Char was perfectly coal-fired with a rich miso glaze, and the Striploin with Bone Marrow was the height of decadence. The dry-aged beef was cooked to perfection.
* The Sweet Finish: Closing with the Chocolate, Caffè, Latte was the perfect move. The gianduja and espresso notes were rich without being overbearing.
The Verdict
Between the romantic Valentine’s touches and the top-tier food, this was one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in Hamilton. If you go, ask for the tasting menu and hope that Maria is looking after your table!

I ate here for the first time with two of my colleagues.

We started with the tuna Crudo and the Buratta. Both appetizers were amazing. The warm sourdough bread was just the added touch that it needed.

For our mains, I ordered the trout and my colleagues both ordered the short rib. I would say that my main was really good, except the skin was not crispy enough and slightly under seasoned on the lentils. Bearing in mind that I eat at a lot of restaurants and I have been to a lot of fine dining as well so maybe I’m being a touch picky. Honestly, it was delicious.

My coworkers both loved their short rib.

The service here is absolutely incredible. I would have to say these are the friendliest servers I have ever encountered in Hamilton. We had a great time.

Ambience is great, bathrooms are nice and clean. I’ll be back for sure.

Absolutely lovely high tea experience! The Italian inspired offerings were delicious and included the usual scone and jam/cream selections as well. Large 3-tier serving for each person along with a pot of tea of your choice from a varied selection. The ambience was understated-ly gorgeous along with attentive and efficient service. I am looking forward to attending dinner in the near future. Exceptional dining destination for our city!

Came here for brunch and tried the Meatball “Shakshuka”, Marsala & Mushroom Toast, and the Honey Glazed Zeppole.

The shakshuka was rich and flavorful. I loved the sauce and grilled focaccia. I just wish there were a bit more eggs and fewer meatballs, but still a great dish overall.

The mushroom toast was creamy, earthy, and topped with perfectly poached eggs. Definitely a comforting brunch choice.

And the zeppole… wow. Light, fluffy, and glazed with honey. It reminded me of fresh beignets, absolutely amazing.

We came here with a group of 4, it was a nice touch to have a coat check. The restaurant has a lot of tables so you can be a bit close to other groups and the restaurant was quite loud. The service was friendly, but it did take a while to get a beer to the table. The calamari appetizer was a good portion and really tasty- but one odd thing was they included battered and fried lemon slices in the dish. We had to take them out as they were quite the sour bites (we would still reorder but just an FYI). The hanger steak was good, there were comments I heard about it being a bit fatty. Our friend enjoyed the trout, although I feel like it was small and could use a side. My duck gnocchi had a very flavourful and enjoyable sauce, although I did find the duck to be fatty as well. Overall we would be back to try other dishes

Have to say this was one of the best restaurant experiences I’ve had in a very long while. From the food right down to the service. If I could give a 10 star I would do so. Our server Nicole was absolutely incredible and her service, food & beverage knowledge was impeccable. Nicole I MUST ADD made us the best dirty gin martini I have had in Hamilton!! I am a gin dirty martini snob & she killed it!! Chef Carlos, absolutely executed each course. We got the limoncello oysters, Wagyu carpaccio, 20oz RibEye & the Barata pasta!! Caith, wasn’t even our server but came over and sparked conversation with our table. Her wine knowledge (I’m a wine nerd myself) again incredible along with her charm & vibe. This restaurant experience was a breath of fresh air. It was our first time here, and definitely will not be our last. You have a very good team there (Nicole & Caith) those two together are a dream team. Please respect and keep those two happy because they definitely seem to love their jobs, are good at what they do & give great experiences to your guests. Will be coming back not just for the atmosphere and food but for these two!

Incredible food, incredible staff and beautiful decor. One of the top spots in downtown Hamilton. Food was prepared quickly and the overall experience was perfect. So many great choices on the menu so make sure to try a bit of everything and I must say the chairs are very comfortable as well. Can’t wait to go again!!!!!

Weekend tea service was excellent. Tea menu had lots to choose from – we had pots of the cream of earl grey and the blueberry white peony tea. Food was delicious, fresh, and full of flavour. My favourites were the lobster Brie arancini, buratta peach on focaccia, cherry and white chocolate scone, pistachio bomba and strawberry timbale.

We celebrated our Anniversary tonight with the five course tasting. We are so glad we chose this option. From the moment we arrived and were greeted by our server Abby, we enjoyed each course as Abby explained the flavour profile of each dish matched perfectly with the wine pairings throughout the evening. The food and wine were exceptional. Each course was beautifully presented and delicious. We will definitely be back.
