We visited Perseid for Valentine’s Day, and it was truly one of the most memorable dining experiences we’ve had in Houston.

Tucked inside Hotel Saint Augustine, Perseid feels like a hidden gem — intimate, refined, and quietly luxurious. It has that understated elegance that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something special. We were lucky enough to score a last-minute reservation on OpenTable, which felt meant to be because the entire evening was flawless.

The food was absolutely incredible. Every dish was deeply savory, beautifully plated, and thoughtfully composed. You can truly taste the technique and intention behind each course. It’s elevated French cuisine, but still warm and inviting rather than intimidating. Each bite felt balanced, rich, and memorable.

The atmosphere is sophisticatedly beautiful — soft lighting, elegant design, and a calm, romantic energy that made it perfect for Valentine’s Day. It felt intimate without being cramped, and upscale without feeling pretentious.

Perseid absolutely lives up to its Michelin star reputation. If you’re looking for a refined, special-occasion restaurant in Houston — especially one that feels like a hidden escape — this is it. We left already planning our next visit.

After visiting once, I came again less than 2 weeks later. Let’s get two important dishes first. 1. Hangar steak and Anne potatoes. Best steak I’ve had in houston in years. The sauces, the freaking potatoes unlike anything I’ve ever had. Flaky, layered, crispy on the outside and soft on the insides the steak cooked to perfection, tender, crispy on the outside, flavorful. Forget ribeye. And the price!! Incredible. 2. The chicken. I could care less about ordering chicken at a nice restaurant , but my husband ordered it. To my dismay, it was the most flavorful chicken dish I’ve ever had at a restaurant. Would absolutely order again! We also enjoyed the crawfish sausage, salmon dip, endive salad (loved), and apple beignets. As always with their restaurants, the service was stellar. I will be a return customer and will truly crave this version of steak frites- my no 1 go to from now on!

A lovely and quiet spot tucked inside a hotel. The patio is lovely and there’s lots of plants and growing trees. Really, really appreciated how the music volume was at a minimum both indoors and out – many coffee shops and restaurants in the area seem to be going for a bar like vibe, even during the daytime, so it was nice to find a place where I didn’t need to raise my voice to order my drinks.

The drinks were also unique and very refreshing. Definitely plan on coming back

We had a lovely dinner here, being pleasantly surprised by everything, We had a lovely dinner here, pleasantly surprised by everything from the delicious food to the wonderful service and relaxed, elegant atmosphere. We shared a perfectly prepared Caesar salad topped with anchovies, followed by excellent sourdough bread from Slow Dough Bakery. For entrees, the pork shoulder over lentils with gremolata was brightened perfectly by tangy onion and lemon, while the hanger steak was cooked to perfection. Don’t miss the maple cake for dessert, which was exquisite and served with a unique rosemary-lemon vanilla ice cream. The dining room was quiet, giving us a secluded, relaxing experience. We will definitely be back!

The tuna tartine, a classic, was refreshing, simple, and just right. The eclair was my favorite. The right amount of sweet. A must try! Unfortunately the Saint Augustine burger was underwhelming. The duck liver mousse was too thick, flavorless, and there weren’t enough toppings and spread to save it. I recommend you get any other entree.

We came to Perseid for a peaceful lunch. The restaurant is located inside a hotel, and the overall environment is quite nice — modern, calm, and well-designed.

Unfortunately, the food was extremely disappointing.

I ordered a two-course set, and the main was salmon. The salmon was completely bland, with almost no flavor at all, and it didn’t pair well with the sauce whatsoever. I barely ate more than a few bites. I ended up taking the rest to home and giving it to my cat.

We also ordered an éclair for dessert, which was overwhelmingly sweet. We could barely eat more than a few bites.

Overall, while the ambiance is good, the food quality does not match the setting at all. Definitely not worth the price.

What a lovely place for a perfect brunch and afternoon dessert. I was brought here to celebrate the last leg of my birthday and it was the best closing. The service was impeccable and the dresser options were mind blowing. The creme brulee was the best out of all the four desserts.we tried. Although, I loved each one, the creme brulee was the most memorable. The sorbet trio was unique and my second favorite. I can’t stop thinking about their mango and passion fruit sorbet.

What a fabulous evening. What a fabulous team! Alex, Chelsea, Stephanie, and the kitchen staff made my first visit wonderful! Chelsea’s drink and entree suggestions were spot on. She was very patient and accommodating. I started with the Loretto cocktail and the salmon dip appetizer. For my entree, I selected the tomato risotto with shrimp . For dessert, I had the chocolate entremet. All of the food had flavors I had not previously experienced. I will be back !

All around very good brunch in a beautiful space with great ambiance and aesthetic. But the pancakes were beyond very good equaling my all time favorite at Harry’s La Jolla, CA. Incredible. It is located in Houston’s most walkable neighborhood immediately behind the world renowned Menil Museum. I will definitely return to try both lunch and dinner soon. I did not photo the pancakes of my breakfast sandwich but I have included a photo of the fantastic cheese board (their bread and pastries are so very good).

Super good place. Crawfish sausage was very nice. Lov r the Caesar salad, it was large and had the best croutons ever made. The duck breast was satisfying and had a great sauce.
The eclair is a bit over rated but it’s alright. The maple cake was Devine.
