A cozy neighborhood oyster and raw bar serving fresh oysters, clams, scallops, shrimp and other seafood options in various raw and cooked preparations, as well as weekly raw bar specials, with a full menu of Iberian tapas and bistro inspired share/snack dishes. We are a small selection of N/A beverages and are a BYOB — but we do offer a unique concierge service with local wine shop Lum’s Cellars: customers can scan their QR code menu while at Perla and order off a proprietary wine/beer list which Lum’s express delivers right to the restaurant; our staff receives your order and serves it to you. Please follow our Instagram for up to date menus and announcements. Perla has bar/counter and table seating and is a full-service restaurant.

My husband and I tried Perla for the first time this past Saturday and absolutely loved it. It feels like you’re sitting in an NYC restaurant but you’re on a cute corner in Maplewood. The food is absolutely delicious — so, so fresh and flavorful. The vibe is super cool and the seating is tight but no different than any place in the city. We also loved our waitress, she was knowledgable, friendly and attentive. Highly recommmend. It’s also nice because palette brewing is within walking distance so it makes for a perfect date night!

My husband and I dined here on Valentine’s Day. They had a pre fixed menu which consists of seven items. Everything was so good, my husband and I couldn’t pick just one favorite. Everything was just scrumptious! The food was just incredibly fresh and delicious. I don’t think there’s any other place like this in Essex County. We were sooo excited to dive into our dinner that I didn’t get to take a picture of our oysters and scallops.
The place is cozy, very clean, does not smell like a seafood market. We sat at the bar and it was nice to sit there, cause you could see the action and the chef was very approachable.
The service was also awesome, the staff are friendly and very attentive.
It’s BYOB which is a plus for me, we brought our own bubbly which paired well with the meal.
Definitely coming back.

What a unique place with outstanding and unique oysters clam and seafood dishes!
Definitely on the pricier side but so worth it if you appreciate fresh and pure seafood dishes.
We were seated at the bar and lived watching the dishes being prepared. Our waitress was entertaining and gave great recommendations. Every single dish was super delicious!
My favorite was the uni toast with crab foie gras. Chorizo breaded clams were to die for and the fish dip was finger licking good.
Byob or get something delivered.
Will be back for sure

The Best Raw Bar and Seafood Restaurant in NJ!!
I keep coming back to Perla and for good reason. Matt and the entire team consistently deliver exceptional seafood-forward cuisine that rivals anything you’ll find in NYC.
The raw bar is outstanding! But here’s the secret: don’t sleep on the specials. The kitchen truly shines with seasonal offerings like the marinated uni in winter months and the peak-season tomato salad in summer that maybe the best tomato salad out there.
What sets Perla apart: The team clearly has strong relationships with quality purveyors, and it shows in every dish. The attention to seasonality means you’re always getting ingredients at their absolute best. Whether you’re a raw bar enthusiast or prefer cooked preparations, there’s something special here for everyone.
Can’t recommend highly enough. Already looking forward to my next meal here!

Just an amazing Valentine’s Day experience. From the swordfish to the trout dip to the scallops (with an amazing caramelized onion/chorizo butter/piquillo pepper topping) to the manchengo cheese to the olive oil cake with the lick-the-plate lemon curd, it was just a fantastic meal. And the attentive and personal service didn’t hurt! We will be back!!!

Super fresh raw bar—oysters, clams, shrimp, smoked trout dip and crudo were all on point. Loved the deviled eggs and tapas too, and the cheese and sausage plates were a nice surprise. Everything was flavorful and great for sharing.
Service was friendly and on it the whole time. Chill vibe but still feels special. Definitely coming back!

We went at 6:30 on a Friday and they were out of half of the items on the menu already (mind you, they open at 5). Most of what was left on the menu was tinned fish and smoked fish dips. If I wanted just that, I would go to the deli down the street. The oysters are very good which is the only reason I’m giving 2 stars. We left very hungry after being there for 30 minutes of ordering oysters, a side of bread, and uni toast. The uni was delicious but they put it on top of a very strong and brown crab pate of some sort that completely over powered the uni. I ended up picking the uni off and putting it on the bread we ordered because the crab was just so strong and fishy. Service is fine, people are friendly but it’s a very tight space at the bar and at the dining tables. We left with our half drunken bottle of wine and went to second dinner at Finn Raw Bar in Summit, which was amazing. Will not be back.

So we had a great experience at Eat Perla as always. My wife and I celebrated our 15 year anniversary and enjoyed all of the dishes. Since they have specials every other month and this week / month they had Umi and oysters with caviar…. Amazing. If you want a unique food experience stop by The Oyster Bar and enjoy what Maplewood has to offer!!

What a fabulous find. Tiny but a great gem in a random neighborhood. We had oysters & clams to start, deviled eggs, tuna tartare, potatos, escargot, bread & cheesecake to finish. I loved all but the potatos. They were fine but not to my liking. We will definitely be back. Friendly staff!! ❤️

My wife and I finally checked out Perla Oyster Bar in Maplewood and we had such a fantastic time. The oysters were insanely fresh and packed with flavor, honestly some of the best we’ve had anywhere nearby. We tried a bunch of the small plates and everything was bursting with taste, super fresh ingredients, and just really well done. Nothing felt heavy or overdone and we had such a nice time.
The service was spot on—friendly, quick, and made the whole night feel like a great evening. We got to meet the owner Matt, who was really cool and really felt he cared about his food. Chatting with him was a nice bonus. It’s such a great spot right in the area, cozy and lively without being too much. We’re already talking about when we can go back for more. Definitely recommend!
