I’m especially excited to come back soon to try their brand-new dinner menu. On top of the culinary updates, the dining room is also getting a refresh — new chairs on site with tables on the way, making the space as inviting as the food. Bravo to the Peregrine team for keeping things fresh without losing the soul of what makes this place so special.
Over time, I’ve really noticed how much the service has improved—the staff are more attentive and the experience feels smoother and more welcoming. Breakfast has also gotten better, especially the pancakes, which are delicious. Overall, it’s great to see how much the place has grown and improved.
I loathe writing this review because I don’t want the throngs from Paramount down the street to find their way here!

Original review: Excellent ambiance, food, and service are some of the highlights of Peregrine, one of the best restaurants in Beacon Hill and Boston. Peregrine pleasantly combines a quiet and artistic atmosphere with an amazing—and reasonably priced—menu. I have dinned at Peregrine more than ten times and in each case the quality of the food was superb, and the meal options are always unique. In fact, they not only have a seasonal menu but also an optional fixed-course menu.
A hidden perk of dinning here is that Peregrine is a full-wage restaurant, meaning that tips are neither necessary nor expected!
For a place this fancy, I would’ve expected better quality food – I ordered the Paella di Alghero: The shrimp was overcooked and tough, and there wasn’t anythting special about the flavor of the dish.
My other complaint is the slow service and wait time for the food. It took about 45 minutes for our food to come out. However, they were very on top of never leaving our water glasses empty which is a huge plus for me, personally.
Great atmosphere and interior design, but would not come again because for the price you pay, the quality of the food wasn’t amazing/worth it.
We recently came in for a weekday dinner and were surprised to find out that we were the only group at the restaurant. With the support of the team behind Juliet, we expected more popularity, and everything from the service to the food seemed pretty good.
We started off with the Parmigiano + local honey which were excellent small bites for our drinks. The quality of the imported cheese was certainly good, but it would’ve been better if they sliced them in smaller chunks. For the small plates, we had the Catalan tomato bread and the garlic shrimp. Both were good, but nothing stood out in particular.
The highlight of the meal was the Peregrine steak. Cooked with Kombu butter, the steak was extremely tender and flavorful. Risotto was a also nice dish to accompany with the steak, but papperdelle was bland and unremarkable. Without any sauce, the pasta was slightly dry, and we ended up leaving most of it.
summary: I had always wanted to dine here whenever I passed by the Whitney. I finally had dinner with an old friend and was quite disappointed with the quality of the food and drinks. All menu items include tip and tax, but they also charge an extra 7% for “appreciation of kitchen staff.”
food: I ordered a Sicilian pizza as an appetizer and Pomodoro pasta as my main dish, while my friend ordered a risotto. None of the dishes were particularly tasty.
drinks: The sparkling wine I ordered was an absolute disaster, it seemed that the bottle had been open for a while, and there was no sparkle left in it.
service: average or below average.

Overall Experience: 3/5. We wanted to love this restaurant, but were disappointed. While the food was quite good, the meager portions left us hungry at the end of the meal, they were overpriced (typical of the neighborhood), and we waited a long, long time between each check-in with our server (and saw our table neighbors were, too, with different servers). It’s a cool spot for a drink and an appetizer at the bar on a weekend afternoon, but there’s a reason you don’t see a lot of local residents dining here.

The food and drinks were pretty good, definitely better than a lot of hotel restaurant food. We got the mackerel + eggplant and chicken + potatoes. The eggplant was notably quite good. The chicken was well seasoned and cooked well.
Price seemed fair for downtown Boston at a slightly upscale establishment. I appreciated that tips were already built into the bill (both as a consumer and as someone who believes in staff being paid fair wages).
