Welcome to Perch Neighborhood Kitchen. Housed within the walls of a historic building dating back to 1908 and once home to the Effting Grocery & Company through 1954, Perch is proud to continue the tradition of serving the Cathedral and Pettigrew Heights community. Once a neighborhood grocery store, we’ve transitioned this storied space into a new gathering place – a space where all are welcome to gather and enjoy. Our commitment to quality extends beyond our rich history. Wherever possible, we source ingredients locally, ensuring each dish reflects the freshest flavors possible. Join us in celebrating the history of this neighborhood treasure while savoring the finest freshly prepared dishes. Enjoy.

The location was easy to find. I was instantly greeted and seated. The staff are friendly and the service was quick. I ordered the Chilaquiles dish and was pleasantly surprised. The presentation was nice and the dish itself was flavorful. I ordered my eggs sunny side up and the yolk made the dish a well-balanced bite.
Good meal at a fair price with friendly staff. Great first experience. I’ll be a repeat customer. Highly recommend.
On the recommendation of a friend, I went to Perch during a sports event that ended last night (curling). It was quite simply amazing! I’ve been all over the US and have to say this is the best, most innovative, and top to bottom delicious menu I’ve ever had. I went FOUR times in SIX days! Had the hash (twice), Belogi bowl, and chilliquilles – with a perfect Americano each time.
Food was innovative, perfectly executed, and served with a tremendously positive spirit. I’ve had 100+ hash’s all around the US, and this is in the top 3 – I mean just wow. Fresh eggs, clever meat items locally aourced, great bread and pastries, and topped off by perfect coffee.
Am I praising it enough? No, I am not.
Do yourself and anyone who eats great food and go there right now. Kid friendly, GF friendly, and friendly to all of us. Only downside? 20 indoor seats that fill quickly,.back porch with heaters is ok, but … Honestly, JUST GO RIGHT NOW.
If you’re looking for a small, intimate breakfast nook with delicious food – this is the place! I can’t wait to come back during the summer to check out their deck with seating!
The menu at Perch gets updated seasonally, but there’s always some stand out favorites such as the Biscuits and Gravy made with bratwurst. We always appreciate that the staff does their best accommodate, whether it’s putting things on the side or whipping up some chimichurri when available, it’s a fantastic meal with great service.
It is however, an incredibly close knit restaurant, especially if you sit inside, you will be elbow to elbow with other patrons. However, when the weather permits their patio is spacious and feels like a lovely dining experience in a neighborhood.
Lastly, they work on a waitlist system rather than reservations, so it can be a bit tricky to get a table impromptu. However, it’s definitely worth the effort.
