Delicious thin (Neapolitan)or thick crust (Sicilian) pizza. Large portions with plentiful toppings. Order at counter and grab it when it’s done. Definitely will
Be back. Had the Peppino’s pizza and love it!

I recently stopped by Peppino’s Pizzeria in Athens and had a solid, laid-back meal there. The place feels comfortable and unpretentious — simple setup, easy vibe, and just what you’d want when you’re in the mood for something casual and satisfying.

What stood out was the friendly, down-to-earth service. Even when there were a fair number of people, staff managed things smoothly: ordering, getting food out — everything felt straightforward, without fuss.

For what you pay and what you get, Peppino’s feels like good value. It’s the kind of spot where you don’t expect fine dining — you expect honest food, a relaxed atmosphere, and enough to leave you content.

It’s not fancy — and I wouldn’t pick it for a special night out or fancy date — but for a low-key meal, some comfort food, or a no-pressure night with friends, Peppino’s works. If I’m in Athens and want something simple and reliable, I’d go back.

Ok, this is REAL NY PIZZA. Best pizza I’ve ever had in the state of Georgia. I’m from NY/NJ and this mom and pop is the real deal. Well worth the short drive out of downtown. The decor is authentic nostalgic 1980s!!! A little tacky, old school, casual atmosphere. Only thing missing is Pac-man machine in the corner. Come give it a try, no matter where you hail from, you will NOT regret it!!!!

The pizza was very good, and the large Meat Lovers was enormous, worth it, considering it was $36. The sausage had a nice kick to it with great flavor. The interior is quaint and somewhere I’d enjoy sitting next time.

We were driving by and decided to stop in for a quick bite and let me tell you, the smells were amazing. I was so excited when we got the chicken Parmesan, but, it wasn’t as exciting as I’d hoped. The chicken was kind of chewy and tasted like it had been sitting in a cold place for a while—definitely not as fresh as I’d sniffed out.

The staff was incredible, friendly and welcoming and the restaurant was the most cleaned including the bathroom.

The cheese was good though, and I the sauce was “meh” about it, so I’m guessing they weren’t super impressed either.

I would try the pizza.

My wife and I drive by here weekly and have been for years. My other family members suggested we all eat here for lunch….now im regretting missing all the year I could have ate here! Its absolutely incredible. Best pizza in Athens. Be warned, the single slices are huge, the pizzas are huge! The philly cheesesteak sub could feed 50 people! The garlic bread was soo good! We’ll definitely be coming back. Update: 3-8-26: well its now terrible….SIKE! Bahaha. No its still the best pizza in Athens hands down, bar none. If anyone tells you otherwise, they’re probably the same people that take more than a penny from a take a penny tray.

The tea was good! And the building was nice.

Initially I was disappointed because I wanted a couple of pizza slices without tomato sauce. I wanted a white sauce. Or maybe a pesto base. But they don’t have anything other than tomato base when buy slices. You have to order a whole pizza to get a non tomato base.. Okay.. So plan B, since I don’t want a whole pizza.

I converted to ordering manicotti. That was actually the worst manicotti I have ever had in my entire life! The inside was dry and crumbly. The manicotti was baked so much that it was burned and stuck to the little tin pan that it was served it in. I couldn’t cut through the noodle with a knife!

I feel manicotti traumatized. Seriously, I was recently at another Italian restaurant and couldn’t bring myself to order the manicotti! I know, that’s a personal problem, so back to my review.

The other issue was that their salad bar isn’t really a salad bar. It’s lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, beets, and onions. They give you a small styrofoam bowl to make your salad in. I basically ended up with a small bowl of iceberg lettuce with beets on it.

My husband’s Stromboli wasn’t even really a stromboli. It was like a pizza dough bowl full of stuff. He said the sausage that was supposed to be in there tasted more like crumbled ground beef. So, my husband didn’t really enjoy his meal either. It wasn’t what he has encountered as a stromboli anywhere else.

My husband and I drove completely across town to try out this restaurant. We are trying to find the perfect pizza place around town, but this is not it for us!

Depending on what you like, you might like this place. I’d personally recommend sticking with the pizza in the tea! It’s a really well rated place otherwise, and I don’t often leave negative reviews. However, since both myself and my husband had issues, we really feel like people might like to know the tea is great! And quite possibly the pizza is too. The other stuff.. not so much.

Maybe we just hit them on a really bad day. But, whatever the case, we will not be back.

I grew up going to this Pizza joint, back when they were on broad street downtown. The food is insane out of this world. Today my Hub and I went there as soon as they opened. Their internet was down, couldn’t take a card, no problem we have cash, you overcharged us for $21 on the ticket. Immediately the owner was right there trying to right the wrong. So polite. Brought a beer to my husband on the house. This is literally my fave pizza joint. Always. We understand they were off kilter from the internet being down and not being able to accept cards for a bit. But the way the owner treated us after the pizza was wrong and they overcharged us for something we didn’t order, not the owners fault. He was very kind. I am SO happy that my fave pizza joint worked to keep us happy when we really didn’t mind the issues. Best Pizza. And Best Ever.

They seem to be circling the drain, and the owner is going to be the final nail in the coffin. Truly awful service! My experience is the same as everyone else who left a 1 star review. Long time Athenian, and I strive to support local businesses. I’m done with Peppinos. There is no reason to support a business that hates their customers. I get struggling and being stressed, but repeat customers are what keep you in business. Combative service and resentful attitudes will not build your business up. I hope someone can step in and restore this place to its former glory. Otherwise, I look forward to seeing what takes its place

I didn’t like the pizza I ordered. I will try the thin crust the next visit.
It is “Order at the counter”, so not much service given. But the staff were pleasant and welcoming. I don’t like giving a tip before Im served or taste the food.
I’m a big guy, 6’3 & dad bod, so the booths were tight for me. But free refills, YaY!!
It seems like a nice local stop for regulars. Give it a try!
