The warm cinnamon apple custard was the unexpected show stealer- it was like a deconstructed apple pie topped with warm thick custard sauce (?). Would order everything again!
We got chicken tenders (no spice), fries, red beans, slaw, catfish sandwich (mild spice) and apple custard. Everything was really good!
The catfish sandwich is huge, fried perfectly and dressed with creamy tartar sauce and some out of this world pickles.
The (giant) chicken tenders are incredible. So juicy, so crunchy! They didn’t need dipping sauce, but I couldn’t resist the Rooster sauce and the sweet and spicy sauce. Yum!
The red beans are smokey and flavorful. The fries are delightfully crispy- fluffy. Their take on slaw is crunchy, fresh and just a touch sweet.
Oh and you gotta get the apple custard! Creamy, warm, soft custard with spiced apples and vanilla wafers. Its a perfect size to share, but once you get in there, you’ll want it all to yourself. I actually dont like apples OR custard, so I was stunned with how delicious this is!
Great food, friendly staff, cute dining area and great location. Give them a try!
The space itself is nice. Not too big and well decorated, slight vintage appeal.
But let’s be honest we’re here for the food not the decor; and the lack of any salt in the food is crazy.
I ordered the Cajun fries thinking they would be “well seasoned” but it was just unsalted spicy seasoning!!
The chicken was just spicy with a tiny sweetness but zero salt. Unless I missed the sign that stated salt your own food yall missed on seasoning.
Thankfully on a whim i grabbed 2 salt packets on the way out but that barely took care of the fries. And the most diabolical part YALL GAVE ME THE BUTT END OF THE BREAD!!!
I’ve ate a lot of food and cook a lot of food. Serving someone the but end is absolutely insane!!! After the 20+ mins | waited no one could get salt or a real slice of bread?!?!
The “cook” claims it’s delicious or he covers the meal. Well this meal was not delicious and after making not of that they don’t reply.
While you can’t debate spice levels or preference no salt is no salt, and leaves the entire meal falling flat. Had I known the order time would have ordered in advance to dine in but made that mistake and had to take the food to go.
I can’t debate it was hot and freshly cooked. But that was where the satisfaction ended.
Update.
Refund was only offered after leaving a honest 2 star public review. Before leaving a public review they refused to reply on social media. Claiming they were not online when in fact they were active everyday because ig tells you when someone is online/or the last time they were.
He also claimed it was due to new staffing that I had a poor experience yet it was there “chef” Patrick who was the only person in the kitchen. So the main chef delivered a poor experience not a new employee.
After offering the refund he then used it as a bargaining chip/bribe and asked me to remove the review or update it with a higher rating for the $11 refund which instated I would not do because the poor experience was still accurate.
Personal opinion is proceed with caution and expect to salt your own food. If you have a poor experience they will offer ample excuses instead of take accountability
