I’ve been stopping by Pepe’s Diner in San Angelo for quite some time whenever I’m in town, and it’s always like a home away from home. The atmosphere is warm and family oriented, and the managers do a fantastic job of making everyone feel welcome. They often walk around, chat with customers, and make sure everything is just right. If there’s ever a small issue, they handle it on the spot with no hesitation. Plus, the food is absolutely amazing, always delicious and satisfying. They keep the place tidy and even have a nice little catering setup if you need it. If you’re ever in San Angelo, Pepe’s Diner is a must stop place to eat. Highly recommend!

Pepe’s is one of those hole in the wall places where the locals go to. It is a Mexican American restaurant where the serving size is decent. I had left overs for lunch the next day. The place is older and could use some updating but the vintage look I see part of the charm. Everything was clean including the bathroom. The chips and salsa we just right. We don’t like spicy food and we both liked it. Our server was friendly and she kept our tea glasses filled.
We sat in the far back corner away from the door because it was cold outside. There was music playing on the TV above us which was nice because it was 80’s music and we knew all the songs. It was not so loud that we couldn’t hear each other talking.
If your in the mood for some good Mexican food give Pepe’s as try.

I hadn’t been here in years, but the food and service was amazing! I ate everything on my plate. The salsa was great and fresh, and the rice was also very flavorful. They let me try a sample of the guiso, even though I ordered something else. We are going back soon.

I tried 3 times to have a good experience here, not one waitress can service her table correctly. I shouldn’t have to wait almost 30 minutes for a drink refill every visit and I should get at least one refill of chips and salsa if I finish the first bowl before my foods ready. My food also shouldn’t be unseasoned and undercooked at a MEXICAN restaurant. If you want to spend some money to be ignored and given bad unseasoned food then this place is great. The only waitress whose been any good with service for me is the blonde with glasses.

I haven’t been here in 10+ years so I was unsure of what to expect. Suffice it to say, it was amazing. I ordered a cheeseburger (hold the pickle and onion) with a side of fries. Had a coke to wash it down and a coconut meringue slice for dessert. I really enjoyed everything. The burger was cooked to perfection and very juicy! (did I mention the bun was toasted!) On to the service, My server was very friendly, attentive and accommodating to me asking so many questions. The wait time for food was not too bad. I will definitely be back and recommend you go give them a try!

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. I work in the hospitality industry and could never imagine leaving a negative review about a restaurant—especially a small business—until now.
My mom went to eat with my dad and family a while back. My dad ordered the all-you-can-eat catfish, and my mom ordered the regular catfish. Apparently, there’s some plate color system that shows which meal is which. The waitress mixed up the plates, and when my dad asked for more, they told him no, claiming my mom’s was the all-you-can-eat based on the plate color. (How on earth were my parents supposed to know that?)
My mom then said, “Okay, then give me more catfish,” and they still refused, accusing her of just giving it to my dad. She asked to speak to the manager, and it took 20 minutes before the so-called “manager”—who turned out to be the owner—finally came out.
The moment she walked up, she didn’t even let my mom get a word out before she started yelling at her. She got in my mom’s face, raised her voice, and spoke to her with complete disrespect. My sister stepped in and asked her to calm down, but instead of lowering her voice, she kept on yelling. After all of that, they still tried to charge my mom the all-you-can-eat price for her plate. Hospitality does not exist within the four walls of what is pepe’s diner. The Rivero family is disrespectful, rude, and should not be working in this industry.
