My friend and I had heard of this place on a Facebook food board. Neither of us had been there before. When they advertise “gourmet” burgers, they aren’t kidding. We each ordered different versions of their mushroom burgers, and ordered different fries as an add-on. Not certain I have had better fries, as the topping sauces were really great. We split the burgers, and both were fabulous. The gal behind the counter grew up around Kellogg, and had interesting stories. Definitely give Penny’s Pit a try if you love burgers and fries.

I thoroughly regret taking so long to come here! The food was absolutely incredible! Our burgers were gigantic, perfectly cooked, and fresh. What was even better was the service though. We had Jamie as our waitress, and she was nothing but sunshine and rainbows. There was a couple that was eating next to us who were a little gruff with her, and she seriously just kept a smile and a sweet disposition.

Went to Penny’s when another place was packed and so glad we did. No wait on Saturday at dinner time. I got the James Dean with onion rings. The meat here isn’t the usual hamburger meat. This tasted smoky and had a little crust on it like it was grilled. Exactly how I like it! Onion rings were great. My son got the sweet potato fries with pamesan cheese and sauce and he loved them. My daughter got the chicken ranch with sweet potato fries and she loved it as well. One of the best burgers in N. Idaho! Highly recommended!

Anytime I’m even remotely near the area, I make it a point to stop in because nothing else compares. The staff is super friendly, the atmosphere is fun, and the food is consistently awesome. If you haven’t had a burger from Penny’s Pit yet, you’re seriously missing out!

I have been to this place a couple of times now. They have awesome burgers. The place is what I would call cozy (small). It is fine if your group is 4 or less. Any larger and things get a bit complicated.The staff is as awesome as the burgers. I had the Blue onion Burger both times I have been there. The first time it was spot on, unfortunately on the next visit the crumbles of blue cheese were overpowering. The fries are the best. I don’t recall the name but we had the fries with bacon and cheese. They were fantastic.

Fast and friendly service, and prices right in the middle of the road for the area. I had the Gorgonzola and Arugula burger with “Chris Fries” and a soda. Meal so big I couldn’t finish it, and it set me back only $21. The decor and atmosphere is perfect for a stop in for a gourmet burger. Loved it.

I took my husband here for his first time. It was a busy Friday night and the one girl who was there was phenomenal! She provided us with great service. She was friendly, polite, quick and on top of our needs! I wish I had gotten her name.
I can’t remember exactly what we ordered, but neither of us were disappointed. The burgers were delicious and the onion rings were some of the best we’ve ever had, the Sriracha fries were great, but I personally enjoyed my husband’s garlic Parm fries just a little more!
My husband was so delighted he is already biting at the bit to go back!
