Service was amazing! Lovely lady at the register she helped a lot with helping me pick a dish since I don’t consume meat.. food was very flavorful and perfect portions. Will definitely visit again!

this place is trash all around. gentrified Asian food. Flavorless. Sidenote: spice does not mean flavor. spring rolls were also a poor effort. I had to add all my own seasonings and it was still very very bad. LOOKS good but that doesn’t equate to taste

Penny’s Oak Park is just amazing. Terrific, fresh, delicious food, lots of choices, always consistent and reliable and a neighborhood gem. So tasty. Always prompt and accurate as well. The take-out online ordering experience is a breeze. Excellent excellent excellent.

I ordered the Pad See Ew and Tom Yum soup, and it was honestly the worst Thai food I’ve had in this area. The Pad See Ew was overly sweet and completely lacked of the smoky aroma and oyster sauce flavor that defines the dish. The broccoli was undercooked, tough, and very difficult to chew. It felt like the kitchen was too rushed to care. As for the Tom Yum, the broth was thin and bland, with no aroma of herbs or any hint of sourness. The mushrooms also seemed undercooked. Very disappointing experience.

Got take out here. Used to live near the Penny’s in Chicago (Lakeview) and would frequently get take out there too. Pad Se Eu was good except the broccoli could have been a bit softer/more flavor, seemed as though it was added after everything else was cooked. The red curry was otherwise good.

Great take out Thai food! We ordered the pad Thai, pad see eu, Vietnamese spring rolls, and Chinese greens. A delicious spread of food. Fantastic quality of meat, tofu, and vegetables. I must mention that the pad thai was definitely a little different from the others I’ve had – kinda lacking that usual ketchuppy flavor but nothing a little sambal sauce didn’t bring to life :)!

We are relatively new customers to Penny’s. First few experiences were mixture of dine in, take out, and delivery.
Food is great (the whole reason we returned). Service is normally great and management (owner?) is responsive when something goes wrong.
Delivery has not been a good experience. We wanted to watch football and drink tonight so we opted for delivery. Order took more than an hour so I called the restaurant to see if our food was just sitting there as we waited a long time. Manager/owner(?) was very responsive. He apologized and said they had been slammed tonight and he would drive it to us himself. We like the food there and the manager/owner seemed to give a rip about making customers happy.
The Door Dasher must have arrived at Penny’s before manager had a chance to deliver to us. So, we waited another 10-15 mins. By that time, the food was no longer even a little warm. Had we known any of this would happen, we would have done pick up.
About our order: they were sold out of their tasty edamame which made us sad. We tried the fried tofu instead. Will not make that mistake again. Not sure if it was that our order sat for a long time until the Door Dasher picked it up or if fried tofu just doesn’t translate to delivery well, but it was cold and an odd combo of overcooked (hard) and rubbery. ☹️
We also ordered the chicken satay and the sesame beef noodle bowl. Both were barely warm, but the taste was fine.
Delivery experience and no edamame ☹️ made this time with Penny’s less than awesome. Penny’s will not be our first choice for delivery next time because of the Door Dash issues. We will probably make our way back again for pick up…at some point…

This is our 3rd or 4th visit to Penny’s because it’s down the road from us, and our favorite hot soup joint is miles away!We asked for some Vietnamese spring rolls, which were tasty for having noodles and vegetables in them, personally it would have tasted better with some pork in them but what do i know! I went with The Penny Pho, and the broth was average, and the bowl was at most a medium in temperature! The beef was tasty, and the noodles were good The fried rice we ordered was hotter than my pho!, but I mixed in my jalapeños and hot sauce, and before I knew it it I had finished my bowl
My wife ordered the egg Noodles with sautéed chicken, and she was disappointed because the chicken was dry! Which only means one thing! We tried several dishes on the menu, and it’s average, but they been around since 1991 .

If you’re in search of comfort food that doesn’t compromise on quality, Penny’s Noodle Shop is the place to be. A standout on their menu is the chicken soup, a heartwarming bowl of culinary perfection. The soup is generously filled with tender chunks of chicken, and the freshness of the veggies is evident in every spoonful. The portions are satisfyingly large, ensuring that you won’t leave hungry.
The noodles in the soup deserve a special mention. Perfectly cooked, they absorb the rich flavors of the broth while retaining their own unique texture. It’s clear that the ingredients are top-notch and that great care goes into crafting each bowl.
In a world where fast food often trumps quality, Penny’s Noodle Shop stands out as a beacon for well-prepared, healthy, and downright delicious fare. Highly recommended for anyone looking to satiate their soul as well as their stomach.
