I always love Penny’s but I especially love Penny in the Village. They have a dumpling soup that I adore. I also love their orange chicken.

Make sure to go during the week during happy hour because they have really good specials.

*edit* I’m here two days later but it’s happy hour and happy hour calories don’t count because that wouldn’t be happy, now would it!

Shawn C was our server and he was a joy to have as a server. He was a vibe but also he suggested adding an ingredient to our meal and it definitely elevated it for me. I hope to see him more times.

Our first time trying Thai for and I definitely am not disappointed. The vegetable dumplings were great. I had the fried rice with shrimp added the Thai spice and was extremely happy.
We will definitely be back.
Travis is very good at his job.

I don’t want to give this restaurant any high review or stars. I want to keep it all to myself!!!!! But I can’t. It should be shared how good this place is. It should be shouted. The service, food and drinks all…I have no words but also have 100s of positive phrases for Penny’s. It was so good we came back 4 days later with more family. Food pictures attached

The remodel of this space is excellent. The flow of the bar into the restaurant works well. Had the pre-fix menu for lunch. The branzino was perfect. It was a deconstructed dish with the rice and the salad to dress plated separately so you could build your own perfect bites…and the fish didn’t get soggy from the accompaniments. Baron was a delight and treated us to some custom cocktails he was creating. We will definitely be back soon!

Very interesting place. Rangoon are great. Hot and sour soup is a little different, but good. Garlic fried rice was good.

Wife got the Pho and raved about it. I’m not typically a pho fan as I don’t like cilantro and heavy onion. The pho broth was very much the star though. So very flavorful. Everything else was superb as well. Can’t wait to go back.

Penny’s in the Village delivers the same great food you’d expect from its other locations—fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. The servers are friendly and attentive, making sure you’re taken care of throughout your meal. However, the ambiance is a bit of a miss. It feels like a strange mix between a Panera Bread and a hospital waiting room, with some oddly placed plastic flowers that don’t do much to warm up the space. If you’re here for the food, you won’t be disappointed, but if you’re looking for a cozy or stylish atmosphere, this might not be the spot.

The Penny’s in the Village is the perfect little getaway spot for a relaxing evening out. The atmosphere is lovely they really took their time to make it inviting. The grass walls were a great touch! Although the dining room area was a bit crowded, they do offer a large patio area, which I plan to visit again in the spring. If you’re looking for authentic Thai food Penny’s doesn’t disappoint. The Beef Pho is everything! It’s my go to. The fresh spring rolls are a great palette cleanser for all the Thai spices. The garlic prawns were huge and they come with a sauce that’s addicting!!! The plating was impressive and they make an excellent espresso martini with the bean! Our server could have been a bit more knowledgeable about the menu, it was my first time visiting and having Thai food, she really couldn’t offer me much assistance in ordering, I was dining with a guest, we ordered at the same time but drinks came out separately as well as the food so we had to wait for each other to get their drinks/food before we could enjoy, so by the time my drink arrived she was ordering her second, same with the food. But of course I still tipped her well.

Everything Penny does is outstanding! This place is no exception.

I was lucky enough to meet Penny at Bamboo Penny’s at a Yelp Elite Event. She enchanted me. She was amazing and very creative. I love both her story and her cooking.

Penny’s in the Village is fantastic!!

We enjoyed our delicious appetizers and the main course which we shared, was Khao Soi, a coconut chicken soup with noodles and crispy wontons.

We had three delicious appetizers, including the Rangoon, pork dumplings, and fresh rolls.

My wife remarked on how cute this place was, both inside and out. It’s adorable.

Everything was excellent! We love this place!

I recently visited Penny’s in the Village at the Shops of Prairie Village as part of my Kansas City dog-friendly places series (you can see more on Instagram) , and it was an incredible experience from start to finish.

The atmosphere is beautiful — thoughtfully decorated inside with two fantastic patios perfect for enjoying a meal outdoors. The staff made us (and our pups!) feel so welcome. They even gave the dogs adorable bandanas, which was such a thoughtful touch.

We started with a few appetizers:
• Lobster Eggrolls – crispy, flavorful, and a great start to the meal.
• Chor Muang (traditional Thai dumplings) – perfectly steamed and full of flavor.
• Fresh Salad Rolls – my personal favorite of the bunch! So light, fresh, and delicious.

For our entrées, we ordered:
• Pad Thai – one of the BEST I’ve ever had.
• Basil Fried Rice with shrimp & chicken – perfectly seasoned and delicious.
• Thai Lo Mein – loved that you can customize the spice level to your liking.

And of course, we couldn’t leave without dessert:
• Warm Butter Toffee Cake – rich, warm, and indulgent.
• Sweet Sticky Rice with Mango – fresh, sweet, and perfectly balanced.

Every single dish was fantastic. The flavors were spot-on, portions generous, and service outstanding. It’s rare to find a place that delivers both amazing food and such a warm, welcoming environment for dog owners.

Whether you’re looking for a date night spot, a fun dinner with friends, or a patio outing with your pups, Penny’s is an absolute must-visit. We left full, happy, and already planning our next trip back!
