Newly opened, but by the quality of our meal, they will be open for many years to come. Where else in the North Country can you find homemade corned beef hash? Delicious! I had the Hasbrown Skillet (with a side order of hash) topped with over easy eggs. I had to take half of it home with me, very filling, and so good! Right now this establishment is cash only, but luckily they have an ATM inside ($2.75 fee) and are next door to DFCU (good for us locals). Despite being busy (they just opened a few days ago) the service was excellent and reminded me of the days when the Homestead was open here, many years ago. With the long standing history of the building and the many happy memories I have of eating here as a child (when it ran as the Homestead) I am very happy to see this place has finally fallen into the right hands, congrats Penny! We will be back again soon, and can’t wait to try everything on the menu!

Waitstaff is great.. we go quite often.. however this past time was not good.. my husband asked that I not say anything.. however it’s still bothering me.. I ordered two pancakes and scrambled eggs without noticing I opened the franks redhot sauce to put on after taking a couple bites and chunks from the bottle fell into eggs.. I did tell the server she apologized and brought a fresh bottle out.. but I couldn’t the eggs because the chunks in the eggs. I ate half my pancakes when I flipped them over there was a hair baked into one..

Located on Tom Miller’s Road (route 26) just north of the Champlain Malls, Penny’s Homestyle is a very casual breakfast/brunch diner. We visited on a Monday and the place was almost packed, clearly popular with the locals (which is always a good sign). The options are typical diner fare, especially for breakfast (note the restaurant closes at 2pm), served quickly and with a smile.

Yes the staff is nice. And the place is full of locals. The wife ended ordering the 5 hash brown skillet and I ordered 6 steak and potato hash. I asked that my steak be medium well. When I cut into my steak it was raw. I would say the steak was still mooing. Didn’t end up finishing the steak and told the waitress it was still raw. The waitress acknowledged that she had put in my order as medium well. Curious if that’s case who’s fault is it the cook or waitress?
