We didn’t have to wait at all, which is always a win. As soon as we sat down, Robby, who was both our waiter and the cook, brought our drinks and menus right away. Talk about service.
We both went with breakfast for supper. John ordered the Philly cheesesteak omelette with hashbrowns and toast, and I had pancakes and eggs. Y’all… the pancakes were as big as the plate. I’m not exaggerating. They were fluffy, delicious, and so filling I couldn’t even finish one.
The grill is right there beside you, so you can actually watch your food being made. It’s basically dinner and a show, and I kind of love that.
Robby was phenomenal. Friendly, efficient, and just one of those people who makes the whole experience better.
We’ll definitely be adding Penny’s Diner to our list of go-to spots when we’re in North Platte again.
This place could use a makeover and train new people and it would a lot better than it is. Im sure locals have come to settle with the poor execution of this establishment, so if your coming from out of town. I suggest playing it safe and going elsewhere.
Legitimately being open 24 hours is amazing too! Will definitely be bookmarking for future adventures out west, it’s the perfect quintessential road trip stop. The service wasn’t the “sweetest” at first, but honestly it added to the charm and experience, and she warmed up to us by the end 🙂
Root beer float was just as good as you’d expect, and I had the Frisco melt burger which was delicious.
Their t-shirts were so cute, I had to get one!!
A normal Thursday morning in November my wife and I went on for breakfast. The morning sun blazing through the windows illuminating the pressed metal ceiling. A lot of “regulars” we’re there. I had the sunrise skillet and my wife had the basic breakfast. The food was good, the service was very good as the waitress kept the coffee full. I would eat here again.
The food was decent, but the waitress was horrible. Thank goodness that the cook was attentive, or I would have left. The place is filthy and needs some serious attention.
The bathrooms are nice, but there is a grease smell. Very small diner and locals hangout.
The place has a nice theme, the workers were friendly and it’s a great location for anyone on a road trip passing through or staying at one of the nearby hotels.
