Food was great and everyone working there was wonderful! We over ordered because we couldn’t decide. She had “the Sean” which was 2 eggs, bacon, French toast and potatoes. Also ordered 1/2 order biscuits and gravy – sooooo good! He ordered the eggs Benedict with side order of 1 sweet cream pancake. Everything was delicious! We’ll come back again.

We had the breakfast sandwich with home fries – real potatoes, not frozen. Breakfast was great. Coffee was very good. Excellent service and a great dining experience in this authentic retro diner!

All the dishes we had were outstanding! The server was attentive as well. It’s a retro diner as advertised and I thought it was well done and cozy. I would have taken a few pictures inside but it was a little too intrusive with all the patrons.

They had gluten free bread they used to substitute eggs Benedict. The hollandaise was yum & the eggs cooked perfectly. Also a good serving of hollandaise! The gluten free bread was pretty good.

Their gluten free Belgian waffle with ice cream, ugh so good!!! A must try especially if you’re Gluten intolerant.

Gluten free pancakes also were really good.

Sausage links were not best but not worst, bacon not best either. And home fries weren’t really how most home fries are, needed more cooking.

Coffee was good!

Such a cute place BTW.

Staff were nice but they were understaffed both times so service a bit slower than other places. So if you’re in a hurry, not sure how well it would go. Also they were very aware of gluten allergies.

Highly recommend!! It was packed both times FYI.

Pretty good “home cooked” food server here. Quite funny… sign outside says “4th best chili in PY!” Mid century look with Formica counters; yellow and turquoise. Great bar seats up front, although this is a family diner. Also, first time for us – pay using a unique QR code – no cashier needed

What a great find!!
Beautiful homey little Diner right in the Village, with great food and most likely the best Eggs Benedict I have ever had!! The tavern ham they use has great flavor and make sure you the locals homemade hot sauce it has great flavor and medium heat.
And on top of all that Tabby and Violet you are the definition of awesome service and what service should be with a smile!!! Thank you and I’m looking forward to my next trip through Penn Yan.

Got the Banana Crunch French Toast, food and service was excellent. There was a debate among the locals on what was better The Diner or The Wagner across the street, they’re both great but when I’m back out here the diner is my favorite!

A wonderful bit of old fashioned Americana right smack in the middle of the computer age! It was Sunday morning, we went in, they took my cell number and texted me when we could be served. We waited about 20 minutes. We sat at the end of the counter where all the cooking action takes place. You use your phone camera to snap the QR code and your menu appears on your phone! Pancakes, buckwheats, waffles, French toast, eggs, bacon, sausage, corned beef hash, hot coffee and decaf too! Lunch items, French onion soup. You want it, they got it in a 1925 dining car. It’s a meal and a show all at once. Great buckwheat pancakes. If I lived in Penn Yan, I’d eat there every weekend! Great food and lots of nostalgia and just plain FUN!

This place was voted the best diner in NY State 2017 for a reason. Amazing food, friendly staff in a very quaint town. It was the best pancakes and corned beef harsh that we have ever eaten.

UNCLE GERRY’S TIP: Spend some time walking around this town. It is worth it.

We stumbled across this wonderful diner while driving through Penn Yan to visit a Mennonite farm store. We were pleasantly surprised to find that this diner offers plentiful gluten-free options. My wife got the gluten-free pancakes and also a side of bacon. She loved both. I got the eggs benedict and black coffee and everything was great. There was a good many locals that made for interesting small-town people watching. The staff at the restaurant were very kind and very welcoming. The food also came out astoundingly quickly.

I am 6‘2“ tall and I will say that the door and the ceiling were rather low which made the place even more charming, although I did have to duck in order to walk into the establishment. The bathrooms were well-kept but tiny for such a tall man as myself. Not a bad thing just simply something to note.

Highly recommend! You definitely need to visit this place for breakfast or lunch if you’re driving through Penn Yan.
