I don’t write reviews but I am super compelled to do so for this Penn Station Subs location. It is by far my favorite sandwich shop (and admittedly, I don’t even like sandwiches all that much but CRAVE their subs). I regularly get the Founder’s Special, which is incredibly savory and like a flavor bomb. The food is always great (get the fries, get a cookie, it’s all so good). Additionally, the employees have always been AMAZING and so incredibly friendly. I don’t go in nearly as much as I want to, but just in the extra handful of times I have been in there, they recognize me, know me by name, and talk to me as if I am a weekly regular. The atmosphere is what you would expect from a clean, inviting chain sandwich shop, BUT it’s these phenomenal employees that make the atmosphere five stars. Five stars all around!

I have visited this location several times and its sad to see how downhill it’s gone. The employee at the front (Vivian) who took our order was whispering while she spoke to us and refused to speak up to where we almost walked out. She would list off all of the things we could get on our sandwiches like it was free and failed to mention when things would cost extra. Got our receipt and she tried to give us two cups of different sizes when we got one to share then argued with us that we got two drinks so we asked if she charged us for two since we said very clearly one to share. She threw up her hands and said she didn’t know while shoving the cups at us. We get the food and had to have my sandwich remade cause for some reason she put that I wanted mustard on my Philly cheesesteak??? The fries were SO salty as you can see in the photo plus there was a pile of it on the bottom of the basket. I think they forgot that they salted it then salted again? Not really sure what happened. The people making the food were really nice about fixing our food which is the only reason I gave 2 stars. I will never go back again after dealing with such a rude employee who was either high or just didn’t care about her job.

I had a pizza grilled sandwich and it was so delicious, I forgot to take a picture of it before eating every single crumb! They have lots of seating and generous easily accessible outlets for those looking for an alternative working place. I spent a few hours there waiting for my car to be serviced and both the food and atmosphere made it for a good afternoon!

We keep trying to give this place a chance but after yesterday’s experience it’s likely we won’t be back. Went over the lunch hour and it was not particularly busy. Besides us there was one table, which already had food, and one other person in line. After we ordered it took 20 minutes to get our subs. There were only 2 people working lunch on a Friday. While I do feel they were doing their best it simply was not good service. Also the value is not worth it. I got a club wrap, small fries and a drink and it was $19.

Service was excellent. Food was great. Tried the cheesesteak and Italian, grilled. Hand cut fries yum. Lemonade was awesome. Only negative was the price. $25 for 2 subs a large fry (we shared) and drink.

The food was actually really good, except for the cookies which had bits of plastic in them. I’m not sure if I swallowed any or not but while eating one of the cookies I felt something smooth in my mouth that wasn’t cookie. It was brittle, so it broke apart easily into the smaller pieces I have pictured. Not the sort of stuff I would expect from a restaurant that usually serves such good food.

I spend too much money here for my order to keep getting messed up. Last time i left it slide because i understand things happen and it won’t always be perfect but this time I’m fed up. I ordered a BLT however there was no lettuce and no tomato on my sandwich. Quite frustrating when the last 2 times I have ordered from here my order has been completely messed up. My favorite sandwich shop and I would hate to stop coming here.

It’s nice to have another sub sandwich shop in town. We have tried Jersy Mike’s and Firehouse, neither hold a candle to Penn Station! They are the new kid in town at 168th and Center with a variety of hot and cold subs, wraps and salads. We had the hot Italian sub, best we’ve ever had! They will be adding more shops in the Omaha/Bellevue are soon! Three sizes of subs, 6″, 9″ and a 12″. They also have an app for free stuff! We will eat there again!
