Came in here for a late lunch on a Friday. It was pretty dead. Ordered the medium cheese steak, medium fry, and a drink. It came out to my table in a reasonable amount of time for a sandwich that is made to order instead of camping out under a heat lamp. Sadly, the portion sizes were a bit on the small side. Just a pinch of meat on the sandwich. I could still see bread all over the place. This would be acceptable if it were cheap, but this order ran me just under $20. It tasted ok, but it definitely wasn’t mind-blowing. I don’t think I can afford to come back.

After the high school football game we stopped for a late dinner, we confirmed when parking that we would have time to order and eat inside and saw that closing was not until 10pm. It was around 9:15pm when we walked in. The floors were mopped and rather wet (which is fine we appreciate a clean restaurant), one of the young ladies on the grill immediately rolled her eyes, and seemed irritated that we were there. When my husband asked if we could eat inside or if they were closing the cashier then emphasized that they had started closing, but then regressed and said but we could do either. I completely understand that it’s Friday night and these young ladies probably have better things to do and want to get out as soon as possible. But with all the demeanors we experienced I can tell you we just will go next door to wing stop next time. One of our sandwiches was also not made as ordered, but we didn’t go back in. If your sign states you close at 10, it feels very unwelcoming when you come in with 40 minutes and not feel like you should stay. Manager was curt when I tried using a promotional coupon. I tried to up-size my order and she stated “it has to be a small sandwich.” There was no offer to accommodate my request. Her attitude was I was a bother to be here. Love the food! I will not visit this location again.

I was originally horribly disappointed. I do not live near a Penn Station these days, but it is hands down one of my favorite sandwiches. I happened to be in Franklin, IN today and looked up to find the closest one. As luck would have it, there was one in Franklin a few miles down the road. It was 9 PM, they closed at 10 PM. I hurried and got there at 9:20 PM, to find them cleaning the grill and no longer cooking for the night.
I left dejected, and still wanting Penn Station. The local Wing Stop took care of me. Review on them coming later.
Update – 11 July 2024: So as you see below the link is for their email address, where they ask what time and what store this happened. If you read above, you can see both the store and the time in the review. This maybe a larger problem than the local Penn Station. Corporate? I sent the complaint via their system, copying and pasting. I’ll update if I hear something.
Update – 12 July 2024: Someone did in fact reach out to me via telephone today. They were pleasant, listened, and really concerned about the impact of negative service can have in today’s competitive environment. It is, and has always been, more than just a sandwich. We discussed not only my isolated incident, but how this impacts everyone from customer, to owner, to manager, down to the newest employee. I am so impressed after speaking to them, that I will try that particular location again, on my next trip through the great Hoosier state. Thank you.
