Well served, so happy we came here…
Kotto Roti heaven(sp?)
We will be recommending it to people we know who work on the area.
However, I believe it has changed ownership since then and wow…what a surprise!
Without doubt – one of the best, authentic, Sri Lankan meals in London at a reasonable price. Hoppers is a chain that good SL food but at a price that is laughable! Peninsula does, in my opinion, food that is significantly better at normal London prices.
The mutton varaval was soft and flavourful – you could actually taste the coconut cream. Hoppers were freshly made and the Egg Hopper was simply perfect. The chicken curry was outstanding, and with proper quality of chicken. Beetroot curry was perfect flavouring and not overly soft – a perfect crunch.
My disappointment was the pol roti – like brick. And they didn’t serve any sundries e.g. symbols – this would have been a nice touch.
Service is a bit slow – 30 mins for the food to be served and we were the second order from their lunchtime opening. Parking is very difficult owing to the area.
Overall – this place is a definite visit – the closet you’ll get to a home cooked Sri Lankan meal without have to visit SL!
We tried the banana leaf rice, and it was incredible. The dish came with many sides, all cooked together and packed with flavor, making it a vibrant and satisfying meal. Each element had its own distinct taste, yet everything complemented each other perfectly. The mutton curry was another highlight — tender, well-seasoned, and rich, showing careful preparation and authenticity. The combination of Sri Lankan and Indian flavors made the meal feel different from typical Indian restaurants, which was a welcome change.
Service was friendly and attentive, ensuring everything ran smoothly. The staff were happy to explain dishes and made the experience even more enjoyable.
Overall, Peninsula Sri Lankan and Indian Cuisine is a great spot for anyone looking for flavorful, authentic food with a twist. I’ll definitely be returning to try more dishes.
