I was hankering for a good reuben, as my partner doesn’t enjoy them. A few Reddit searches later and I saw that Pelo’s was the spot to try. I had never heard of them before that. Well, that makes sense, as Pelo’s is pretty new in Longmont. Well, here’s wishing them a long journey and stay in Longmont, because they deserve it.
Settled in on Main, the aesthetic is very cool. It’s a simple bar and tables, but the wood all around let’s you know you’re in a historic building. The photos on the walls are also fun to gaze at and think of what 1800s Longmont was like.
I ordered a reuban and fries and my partner got the Chicago fries. I also ordered a Brown Sugar Latte. That’s the reason for the service score, they forgot to make it completely and I had to go let them know it was needing made. Not a big deal and they still get 5 stars.
Onto the food. The reuben was great. A nice pile of corned beef and cooked well. This is done in the thousand island style. Longmont’s best reuben of all the ones I’ve tried. I personally prefer the kraut to have a bit more punch of sourness, but, still great. Now onto the Chicago fries. Damn do these rock. It’s a Chicago beef on fries, which is a killer deal and filing. They have all the fixings typical with a Chicago beef. As for the fries by themselves, hands down these are Longmont’s best fry. Every fry was consistently crispy and perfect. I’ve never had a serving of fries this good anywhere, actually. I have no idea how they do these with such precision.
The Brown Sugar Latte was okay. I detected not a single hint of brown sugar, so I fear the girl, maybe a bit flustered, made just a latte. Oh well, we’re not going to dwell on the latte much because of how much this place rocks.
I 100% suggest stopping in here and giving it a go.

The rye bread was on point, being crispy and melt in your mouth perfection! Dijonnaise was delish! Sauerkraut could have been a tad more sauer for me personally, but definitely still served its purpose! But the pastrami, oooooohhhhh the pastrami, was thinly sliced locally sourced masterfully crafted deliciousness sent straight from heaven!!!!! My mouth is watering right now just ruminating about it!!! ❤️ ❤️ IT WAS SOOOO GOOOOD!!!!!! Fries were fire, and the side salad was slappin!!!
Kim is an absolute sweetheart, and the whole place is a terrific vibe. She’s done an amazing job crafting not only a world class menu but a phenomenal atmosphere! Top tier cocktails at a very generous price, and serving espresso all night holds a very dear place in my heart!
This place gets a 10 out of 5 stars, hands down, full stop, enough said!!!
I’ll drive an hour out of my way any day just to come experience this heartthrob of a deli again and again!
And let’s talk drinks. They have a fab menu of classic cocktails like Negroni, corpse reviver, bees knees, sazerac, and so forth – all lovely but require a good mixologist to get the balance right, and they nail it. And most of the cocktails are $10! Can’t beat it. Love this joint!
Huge shout out to the owner and her staff! From the moment we walked in they were extremely welcoming, friendly, and attentive! We cannot wait to go back!
